Meredith found herself staring at the pierced nipple of a drunk blonde girl in the arms of the guy from her English class called Jacob? Jake? She wasn't sure. In fact, how Meredith found herself in this situation was a mystery to her.

She was at a campsite surrounded by wasted college kids and a dying bone fire. Her supposed friend, Liza, who had invited her to come spend the night was drinking out of a bottle of beer sitting on the ground leaning on a lodge next to her group of friends. For the past fifteen minutes she had somehow completely forgotten about Meredith who was sitting alone directly across the bone fire. But Liza seemed to be too busy enjoying the company of the guy groping her ass to notice.

And as for Meredith, she was still confused as to how a friendly camping trip turned into a drunken make out session so quick. Either way she had had enough and decided to take a walk to get away from the stench of alcohol and the litter that now lay on the forest floor.

Although Meredith only had half a beer, she felt a little tipsy as she walked out of the camp site and into the thick dark forest looming overhead. As she stepped over fallen branches and tried her best not to fall over she noticed one of the campers to her right 'relieving' himself on a tree. Frowning, she looked the other way and as she headed deeper into the forest she couldn't help but feel guilty of how her companions had been so reckless with their surrounding environment, even if she herself had not contributed to the damage.

She stopped walking and leaned back on a huge tree with its roots breaking out of the ground. She touched the rough bark with the palm of her hand and sighed. Her breath came out in visible puffs because of the chilly night. She was still dizzy and irritated as she wrapped her arms around herself for warmth. So much for making new friends, she thought feeling quite disappointed.

The whole day had been quite a let down too. First, she finds that the washing machines in her building complex are all in use so she ends up wearing the same dirty old jeans as yesterday. Then, later on her way out to meet, Liza, she stumbles into a tough looking guy escorting a beautiful woman with olive-skin and clear eyes into a sushi place. He gave Meredith a nasty glare. Of course, her bad luck hadn't ended there.

Meredith didn't know what she had expected. Everyone here was obviously looking for a quick fuck and no one would think of holding a conversation with her. Unless it got them something in return. She shuddered. Why did I think anyone would even bother? she thought to herselfShe was starting to regret ever coming and plugging herself into this awkward mess. She much rather be back in her tiny apartment watching re-runs of Criminal Minds.

Just as she started playing with the idea of grabbing her things and ditching, she heard a blood curdling scream. She stilled and held her breath. In that split second she thought, It's fine. They're probably messing aro-- but she didn't get to finish that thought as right after a chorus of screams erupted and the sounds of chaos reached her from where she stood, frozen.

Terror ignited from within and she suddenly felt that she had completely sobered up and as if ice had replaced the blood running through her veins. Meredith did consider the possibility of it just being a childish prank. However, the longer she stood there listening to the cries and pleas from the camp site, the more welcoming the darkness ahead appeared and the less appealing going back to face the psycho thirsting for blood.

Or at least that's what Meredith thought to be the cause of the terrified screams coming from behind her. Many thoughts raced through her head, she pondered on going back the way she came from to hopefully rescue Liza, get into her car and speed away. However that would mean going back to the camp site and finding who knows what.

The sound of things being thrown, crushed and heavy repetitive thuds that caused the ground to shake made her jump and feel as if her heart where in her throat. Shit, where do I go?  Am I just imagining this? Meredith thought as she ran in the other direction and away from the real life horror movie that was taking place behind her. She wasn't going to take any chances.

As she hurried away, and the sounds behind her faded, she thought she heard a harsh growl echo throughout the forest.

Her breathing ragged and her steps clumsy she tripped over one of the tree's roots and hit the floor hard. She grunted as she got to her feet. She felt a stinging sensation on her left cheek and brought her hand up to touch it. Droplets of crimson blood appeared on her cold and shaking fingers.

Meredith, not wasting any more time, stumbled to her feet and continued on her way. Even thought she felt that she made the right choice by fleeing she still felt incredibly guilty for leaving Liza and the rest of them for dead. But she made a silent promise to get help for them when she reached the city.

But, she did not reach the city.

The ground shook with the heavy steps of an on coming entity. Her terror came back ten fold when Meredith realized that whatever had been back there was now coming for her, fast. Suddenly feeling nauseous, she begun to struggle to keep her focus on where she was going. She took a look over her shoulder and wished she hadn't.

Only a few feet away from her, stood a beast unlike anything she had ever imagined. It was covered in brown fur that shone different shades of gold under the moonlight. With razor sharp fangs and standing at the intimidating height that appeared to be 8 ft, it was down right frightening to look at.

But that wasn't all. It was standing on its hind legs without any effort or visible discomfort. In fact, it looked almost human. That was what caused the shiver to run down her spine. It wasn't its knives like claws or the low growl that escape the beast, but the disturbing resemblance of the human body.

You would think Meredith to be on the verge of a panic attack, however, all the while feeling awe-struck, confused and completely bewildered, she did not feel fear dominate her body as it had been a few minutes ago. In truth, she felt curious and a sense of peace wash over her.

Then Meredith saw its eyes. She could not believe she had missed them before while she had been examining the creature. There were a soft warm hazel with gold specks. They drew her in and she felt as if she could gaze upon them for a thousand life times. It was as if all sense of time had been lost. She could not describe the emotions those eyes brought upon her besides the feeling of 'coming home'.

Meredith, stuck in her trance, was oblivious to how the tremendous creature was watching her. Before she could snap out of it, the beast snatched her into his hold and leaped into a run.

Screaming, she was carried away into the night.

Hey! Thanks for taking the time to read this it really means a lot to me and I always appreciate feedback!

Also, heads up, the chapters from here on out wont be as polished but I'll make sure that they wont include spelling or grammatical errors since I know how annoying that can be.
