The school was bustling about. Every student who was a member of the School Council was preparing something for tonight.

Regina was shouting instructions in all directions.

She paced all around the school with a clipboard and pen, jotting things down every now and then.

‘Dale! You brought the ladder, good. I need to you to set these lights up in the gym, right now. Okay?’ she said to a tall mad wearing dirty jeans and a cap.

The man called Dale nodded.

Regina paced over to a the crowd standing at the front of the gym door.

‘Didn’t I tell you to start getting the decorations out from the school basement?’ Regina yelled at them.

They quickly ran to go and do their duties.

Regina sighed.

‘Everything better pull together.’ She spoke to herself.

Today was Saturday the 31st of May. The day of the Spring Fling. Fun.

When I hopped out of my bed, I hurried to the bathroom to brush my teeth.

I didn’t exactly get the best night’s sleep with my brace. I twisted and turned, trying to find a position that wouldn’t upset me, but nothing helped.

I only fell asleep at 5am.

The size of the black bags underneath my eyes were unbelievably large.

I sighed.

I returned to my bedroom and fixed up the bed.

I went downstairs and my dad was sipping black coffee somberly.

He seemed to be staring at nothing.

‘Dad? Is everything okay?’ I asked concerned.

‘New attack. Not ripped to shreds like the others. Drained of blood.’ He said gravely still looking into the distance.

‘What?’ my eyes were wide.

My throat felt dry and my heart pounded inside my chest.

Drained of blood. Blood. Vampire. Ian.

What was I thinking? No, I couldn’t be thinking at all.

Ian would never harm anyone. He said himself that he didn’t drink human blood. So it couldn’t have been him. How could I even think that of him?

It had to be somebody else.

But what other vampires were there in Earnest Peaks? I had no idea. It wasn’t exactly easy to tell the difference.

‘How many people?’ I asked, gulping.

‘Four. All lying on the side of the K4 just a few miles outside of town.’ My dad informed me.

A shudder wen through my body. Was it possible that a new vampire was here in Earnest Peaks?

I pushed the thought from my mind and made myself some cereal.

Ian briskly stepped out of the shower, with a loose white towel around the bottom of his body.

He walked into his room and was astounded to find his brother laying on his bed.

‘What are you doing here, Louis?’ Ian asked tiredly.

‘Ooh, fresh as a daisy. Where are you going tonight?’ Louis ignored Ian’s question and smiled his crooked smile at his brother.
