Today is the last day before the terrible radiation. I just know if it can make me get better, I'm taking what I can get. I go into the kitchen and decide I am not hungry. Then I wonder around the kitchen in search of something, anything to do. I am bored, yet again.

I decide to take a walk. I go and get dressed and walk outside. When I reach the wind blowing through the narrow streets I get shivers. It feels particularly nice today but just the wind brushing against my skin sends shivers down my spine.

I walk west towards the shops and bistros. I pass so many colorful places nothing out of the window catches my eye to go in and spend a fortune on. I cross the street doubling back and going east. I look at the windows there. As I walk I see a glint that does catch my eye. I turn my attention to the thing in the window and get bumped into by many as I walk to it.

It is a charm bracelet each with a customizable charm. It is perfect for Adrian. I know it. Her birthday is months away but I can keep it and just hold on to it, I don't know when I am going to find something like this again, something that fits her perfectly.

I go into the stores pushing my hands against the wooden part as to not smudge the glass. I go to the counter and request to see the charm bracelet and charms. The bracelet is a single price and comes with six charms. I pay the fee and look for the perfect charms. I find one that says 'siblings' engraved into a heart. I find another that is a cross which I know is important to her. I grab a few more and hook them onto the metal chain. I leave with a small bag that fits into my hand.

I walk down the long street and look to see if there is anything else I want to buy. I find a small boutique and walk inside. They have anything from hair accessories to makeup. I easily find a small broach for my Mother. It is sapphire with golden engravings and gold sparkles. It will look great with her dark features.

Going down the street just a few more blocks I find a small store selling tiny knick knacks and toys. I find a figurine of a Cello and decide to buy it for Mr. Sanchez. Going around a little more I decide to head back home with my purchases. When I get there, the guy from down the hall is knocking roughly on my door.

"Sir, I'd like to kindly ask what you are doing." I question him from behind.

He turns around casually and almost sleepily so he is facing me "Quit playing your god forbidden Cello." He slurs angrily.

"Haven't played today," I say rolling my eyes

"Why is my head spinning?" He asks outraged and I laugh so hard my sides ache and my face turns red.

"Sir, you are drunk." I say as he stumbles down the hall running into the walls and grabbing to door handles for support.

Flash back

"Daddy," I shout with a scared undertone to my squeaky six year old voice.

"What son." He says making his ’s’ sound squished into the 'o'

"A spider, kill it please." I beg looking up to him

"NO you’re the young man here why don't you kill it. He screeches with his weird voice he gets sometimes.

"Father I think you need to cough or clear your throat." I say

"Nope." He says smiling goofy and falling against the wall. "I’m shhh, drunk."

I look at him confused and ask what drunk is. He explains that being drunk is when he drinks too much wine.

End flashback

I smile at the thought of my dad being here drunk, with the wine smell still clinging to his breath, instead of that other guy. I walk into the apartment and go back to my room. I make a desperate attempt to hide the gifts so I put them in a box at the top of my closet. On each bag I put a name in marker so I know what is for whom.

When I am done I go back into the living room and sit down in front of the old radio from years ago that my father won in a drawing. We was always good at that, winning.

Flash back

Daddy brought home the new radio after he got done at the office he worked at. Running to me and spinning me around high into the air we cheering all the way. When he picked me up I screamed in delight but I didn’t know what this radio I was cheering for. Daddy explained that I could listen to music through this magical box.

I spent days in front of it intently listening to the beautiful sounds.

End flashback

I turn the dial so that it is on my favorite station, classical. I listen for hours when I decide to take a surprise nap.
