Adrian's POV (This is the day of the concert in her perspective.)
I wake up with Frank cuddling into my side. I smile as I remember that today is the concert! Vito has a bunch of things to do today as well so I will see him when I get to the concert and then our lives become the same old ritual again. I need to start getting ready and all of the preparations so I decide to get out of bed.
I scoop little Frank into my arms and when I am off of the bed I carry him into his room and lay him down to finish sleeping there. I smell bacon from downstairs so I rush the stairs taking them three at a time. When I get down there Mother is cooking and Vito's Mother is besides her smiling. I look at the clock on the wall and see that it is already one.
"Look who decided to wake up!" Mother comments as she flips over the pancakes and puts them on a towering stack that is sitting on the table. Vito's Mom is cooking the bacon strips. I walk to the table and help myself to some food.
"Sorry," I mumble shoving a pile of maple syrup covered pancakes into my mouth.
"Dear, it's fine. But, you only have four hours to get ready." Mother consoles. As I scrape my plate clean trying to be done as fast as I can. Vito's Mother laughs at the surprised look on my face. Her dark hair is in curlers around her head.
I run upstairs after dumping my plate in the sink. I pass Jo's room and she has her hair lying on her shoulders elegantly, she is just wearing a silky slip for now while she waits to put on her dress after she finishes her makeup. I go into her room and make her sit in a chair, telling her that I will do her makeup.
I gently brush on a silvery color and then do a deep blue that matches her dress. I put some pink lipstick on her perfect lips which makes them look gorgeous. I turn her around so that she is facing the mirror and she gasps. I take that as she likes what I have done.
"I'm doing your hair and makeup." She says pushing me out of her room and into mine.
She takes several clips that match the color of my hair and would be invisible to people that didn't know they were there. I feel her fingers tugging on strands of my hair. Then she makes me close my eyes so she can do my makeup. When she is done she holds a mirror in front of me. My golden locks are perfectly framing my face. Two strands are pushed back and held in place with small clips that are covered in diamond like jewels.
My makeup is like artwork. My eyes have a light pink shade of eye shadow and the mascara makes my eyelashes look a mile long. My lips are cherry red. The color makes my skin look amazing. Jo looks at her watch and scowls.
"We have two hours left, I will go get Frank and we can get him dressed." Joanne says rushing out of my room. When she comes back she is holding Frank out in front of her. His bed hair is horrendous and I laugh as he looks at me bewildered. Jo sits him in the chair in front of my vanity. She takes some hair gel and spikes it up in the front, flattening the rest out.
"That looks ridiculous. Who would wear their hair like that?" I scoff and she nods in consent smoothing his hair in line with the rest of the hair she has smoothed back.
I pull a small white button up shirt and black slacks out of my closet. I kept them in here because I didn't want him to mess them up on accident. I slip the small shirt on his arms and button him up then I put on his pants. He looks like he will be a heartbreaker. I smile at him and lift him off of the chair snapping the buttons of a fake neck tie around his collar and making it look pristine. He looks so grown up when he is dressed like this.
I chuckle as he spins around giving us his winning smile and clicking his tongue as he puts his hands in gun formation. I said he would be a heartbreaker, but a player? Hopefully not.
I pull him out of the chair and check the time, seeing that I have fifteen minutes before I need to leave for the concert I decide to begin putting on my dress. I first slip on a silky under skirt that will reduce any visibility. I then take down the dress. It has a unique style in the back it has a corset. I put on the dress pulling the chiffon to the front so the corset is visible.
Joanne comes in with her dress on, she looks perfect. She comes to me and starts lacing up the bodice. She gets it so that I look just perfect, and am not spilling out of the dress. She smiles at me and a single tear drips from her eye.
"Hey no crying on your perfect makeup! Today is a happy day, no tears." I say wiping a tear from her cheek and re applying the powder to her cheek, blending it to the rest.
"You just look so beautiful and grown up." She says raising her shaking hand to cup my face.
"Thank you, but I'm sure I look like a rat compared to you." I say laughing a sad laugh
"Oh honey, I don't think so." She says shaking her head and holding her arm out to escort me downstairs. "Shall we?"
We walk down the stairs and see Mother and Vito's Mother standing in the door way. Mother is toting Frank on her hip. She is wearing the deep green dress, looking mighty gorgeous. Vito's mother is wearing a shorter red dress that accents her curvy figure. She is wearing dark eye makeup that looks perfect on her I smile at her and she smiles back.
We walk out of the house and lock the door behind us. We all hook arms and saunter down the sidewalk. We are very close to the auditorium that the Orchestra is performing at. In fact we go to that same auditorium to watch plays and things like that on Friday nights and weekends.
We begin to cross the street and as we do I can't help but feel happy.
We are going to have fun tonight. No matter how sad we have been the past few days we are going to be happy even if I have to force it.
