The Convulsion

My heart was racing. And obviously, Julian's heart was too. Every second seemed like a day, a step, seemed to be a mile. The tunnel where the subway should have been was foreign and uknown to us now. Dirt replaced cement, and roots were visible on the walls. It's like travelling in a worm's path, only one thousand times larger and scarier.

"Where in the world are we?" Julian asked. "How the hell would I know? Just keep running" I responded bitterly.

We heard a scream, about a few yards away. As we became closer to the source, my stomach lurched because of the sight in front of us.

The scream came from a woman, in her forties. She was literally howling in pain, as an invisible entity scratched her and wounded her everywhere. The wounds were fatal, becoming purple immediately, signifying infection.

We ran to escape. Ran. And ran again. I could picture in my mind what would we become if that monster caught us.

Julian was frightened, so was I, and we decided just to run until we can't run any longer. And if that point is breached, we would continue running.

Our footsteps echoed, and we suddenly stopped on my command, to check anything that convulged , or made a sound.

For twenty seconds, there was a deafening silence, then it came.

Something made loud steps, and growled.

We started to run our hearts out again.

The only obvious thing that was on our minds was, Survival.
