Athena's POV:
The next morning...
I wake up due to my alarm playing "I Woke Up Like This" by I don't even know. Like seriously.
I do my normal routine, I shower, I curl my hair, then I do the usual thick eyeliner with mascara, and no other makeup products. I put on a white Nirvana top, black ripped jeans, and converse.
I run out to my car, skipping breakfast cause AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FO DAT!
'You're an idiot,' my inner sarcastic voice mocks me.
'No you're an idiot,' I reply back.
'You do realize you're talking to yourself, right?'
' Whatever, bye Felicia.' I lamely reply back.
I arrive in the parking lot or whatever, my music blasting even through the closed windows. I get out of my car, grabbing my bookbag, and sigh. I just hope today will be a better day than yesterday...
Okay, you know what, let's not even think about that.
I push through the doors and go in, getting my books from my locker. I'm trying my best to think positively about this day, and I've just about succeeded. then I open the door to my math classroom, and when that is finally done, i go to history, the class before lunch.
Him.
Great, another idiot to deal with.
I go and take my usual seat at the back right corner, spacing out as I look out of the window.
I think about how life would be if I had good parents, a good parent at least. I mean, my mom's not bad, for a hard-working single mom she does pretty good for a single mom. But dad, when you abuse your child, then leave your family for some girl who's 20 years younger than you, well, that doesn't score you many daddy points.
******
"Athena, can you tell me how George Washington died?" The teacher put me on the spot, knocking me out of my daydream.
"He got sick" I spoke quietly, being too shy to speak so everyone could hear me, then went back to looking out the window.
About 20 minutes later the bell rung, indicating that it was time for lunch.
I get to the cafeteria buying just an apple and a bottle of water, then go to my usual table at the back of the cafeteria, only to be greeted by my best friend, Zoey Hart. She's your typical dumb blonde-type person, minus the blond; she actually has brown hair.
We start talking about random stuff, then hear some lunch trays slamming down on the table. We look up in unison, only to so see the guy I encountered at Walgreens yesterday, and two other guys.
"Ummm.... hello?" I manage to squeak out.
"Hey, Sweetheart," the boy from Walgreens says cockily, smirking and getting comfortable in his seat. "Who's your friend?" He gestures toward Zoey.
I shoot him a dirty look, my happy mood instantly gone. "Why don't you-" I start.
"I'm Zoey!!! Hiiiii!!!!" my best friend giggles, leaning across the table towards the shy-looking blonde guy with the glasses and hoodie sitting next to Walgreens Guy. His cheeks immediately turn bright pink as he fixes his glasses and smiles shyly.
'I'm Mason," he says quietly.
"Okay, yeah, you're Zoey, but I wanna know your name, Sweetheart," the idiot from Walgreens says, leaning in a little bit closer.
Umm...BACK IT UP.
Of course, Zoey doesn't get the message, because she starts running her mouth again.
"Her name's Athena," she says, smiling and nudging me. I glare at her, telepathically trying to get her to shut up.
Apparently she didn't get the message.
"Your face looks really weird, Athena," she says. "Like you're gonna kill someone or something." She giggles and leans over, whispering just loud enough for the boys to hear, "You really shouldn't make weird faces in front of hot guys," she says concernedly. "Trust me, it's not attractive.' She nods and smiles encouragingly at me as I turn red as a tomato.
"So...Athena, is it?" says Walgreens guy.
"Isn't that what she just said Sherlock?" My hidden snarkiness comes out, wanting to be revealed.
"Whoa, whoa, okay, chill there, dragon," Walgreens guy says.
"Dang....kitten got claws.." I hear Mason mutter, or at least try to.
" Anyways, I'm Asher, and the guy who has yet to speak is Damon."
"HEYYY!" that Damon person says energetically.
I wave awkwardly, aware that now basically everyone in the cafeteria is staring at us, due to Damon's loud voice. I'm pretty sure they're all wondering why the new hot transfers are sitting with the school's head cheerleader and the school's loner, and frankly, I am too.
Wait, did I just call them hot?
Oops...
