Maki tells me how my mother isn't really my mother. I am a long-lost princess in this place, apparently. And my mother had to give me up, since she fell in love with a human. This place didn't accept that, so she was forced to give me up. Maki tells me later on that this is some sort of heaven, but not like we know. In this heaven, every religion is real. Every single religion is correct. All of the different religions are constantly battling each other. Martyrs and faithful servants give up their "heavenly" lives. People who die in this place go to a darker heaven. Their soul is released, and they worship whoever their religion worships. Back on earth, I was atheist. I ask Maki about this and she says that even atheists are in the fight. She is atheist as well. Maki also tells me that there are guardians that watch over the different religions. They review their lives and spectate on the battles. These guardians are the angels. And since my mother was apparently an angel, and my father was a human, I am a half-blood. Half-bloods are special. Since they are given up at a young age, when they die, they can choose whether to be a guardian or a fighter. I am the only half-blood there has been for thirty centuries. And the angels need my help..

The feeling in my legs and arms has returned. My vision has cleared, and my wound healed itself. At this point, I'm trying not to question anything that's going on. All of this is new to me, so I might as well accept it and interpret it later. The whiteness from earlier has vanished. Maki and I are being kept in a separate observation room from the other guardians. We can look down through the glass floor and see the fighting going on beneath us. Maki says that the place we are in isn't really a building, but since I am a half-blood and Maki is human, our brains interpret our surroundings differently. And that's exactly why they needed our help. The guardians are in trouble. They are just meant to speculate and evaluate someone's life. But an outer force has entered, and is capturing the guardians. Without the guardians, bad things will happen (Maki wasn't told what these bad things were) and heaven will fall into chaos (more than what it was right now). The leaders of the guardians have instructed me and Maki to face the danger by ourselves. I had no idea how, but that was our mission. Oh, and I forgot to mention. My actual mom is one of the leaders of the guardians. This is a lot of information for me to take in right now. I asked Maki to pause and tell me the rest later. She obeyed. Now, we are watching what is going on beneath us. The leaders said we only have a few days to get prepared. For now, Maki and I are trying to absorb everything that has happened to us. "Hey, about what happened-" Maki begins. " Don't worry about it," I say softly,"I never knew you liked me though." Makinata blushed profusely, and swallows before replying. "Well, the truth is, I always have sort-of admired you. And when you helped me out with my family problems, I started getting these strange feelings. Feelings I had never experienced before. So I guess-"
"You guess you fell in love with me?"
"Yeah."
"I understand"
Maki turns to stare at me.
"What do you mean?"
"Well, I always have had a small crush on you as well. I didn't want to make the friendship we had awkward though, so I decided to suppress my feelings and focus on helping you"
"K-Kowagatte, I never knew that.."
"I know you didn't. But the truth is-"
"The truth is is that you truly do love me now and you aren't afraid to tell me?" Maki leaned forward, her face very close to mine. She barely ever showed this type of affection towards anyone. I mean, she was my friend, but I've never seen her like this before.
I close my eyes and smile. "Yes Maki. I love you." She blushes, and kisses me again, but this time, it's longer. She lightly leans me down onto the couch and curls up next to me. "Maki, I really do love you, but this is totally out of character for you." She giggles a bit, and says,"Yeah. I know. Love is a really strange thing, isn't it?"
"Definitely."
