Autumn's POV

I sat at the breakfast table, across from Brian. I sipped on my tea and read my book while he gobbled down his eggs and bacon, trying his best to read the headlines from the morning paper, while doing so.

"Ahem" I coughed, trying to catch his attention, placing my book down on the table. "Sooo" I spoke. It was my voice that caught his attention rather than my fake cough.

His eyes darted up to mine.

"Last night" I said referring to the fight we had after Katey had left. I paused for a moment, trying to figure out what exactly I was going to say. "C-can I still-" Brian cut me off with a shake of his head "what?" I gasped, disappointedly.

"I need you here" he said, a bit coldly "there's a lot of laundry that needs to be done and the house is a mess" he explained "I can't believe you let it go this far." He said, referring to the dust on the windowsills and table tops.

That was true. Today was the day I was planing on cleaning the house but I wouldn't go as far to say that I put the task off for too long.

"But, Brian please" I begged, earning a cold glare from my husband as his soft, chocolate brown eyes turn black. I shrunk down in my chair as his eyes shot daggers at me. "W-w-we need groceries anyway" I fought "I barely have any more food and we're completely out of wine."

Brian sighed, dropping his fork, causing it to clang against his plate, which made me jump back. I quickly calmed my racing heart and brought my breathing down to a normal pace.

But, despite the opportunity to come, pick me up and hall me up to my room like a five-year-old, he sat back in his chair and crossed his arms, looking around the house as if contemplating the state it was in. Then he looked down at his food, thinking about it's value.

Then after another painstaking moment he nodded.

I instantly lite up. "Oh!" I yelped, jumping out of my chair, causing it to tip backwards and slam against the floor. But I didn't care, I ran across the room and wrapped my arms around Brian's neck.

"Thank you" I smiled

He looked up at me, his eyes returning back to the soft shade of brown that I loved so much.

Without him having to tell me I released myself from my husband and picked up my chair, before sitting down in it.

I pulled the sleeves to the bark blue knitted shirt down, to further cover up the bruises that had formed from last night.

Then my eyes shot to the face in the mirror. I saw a woman. She had a deep blue bruise on her right cheek and grey, lifeless eyes.

It took me a moment or two to recognize that the woman was me. I looked over myself again, thinking everything over.

I was happy, living here with Brian. I loved Brian. However, I had lost my propose in life and you could see it in my eyes. I hated staying inside all day and doing the same routine over and over again, just being by myself until seven o'clock. I was happy, but alone.

I smile at the thought of me being able to go out on this sunny day to be with my best friend and a whole lot of strangers. Although my smile lit up my face, my eyes remained the same shade of grey.

I shifted uncomfortably as I stared at the uneven shape on my cheek that was a weird shade of blue and yellow. I sighed and grabbed my makeup, before starting to cover up the bruise and other marks on my face.

I nodded, confident in my blue sweater-shirt, black skinny jeans and converse. Even though I'm married I'm only twenty-two and I still have to make myself look presentable.
