Four weeks had passed since Kari arrived in the Ruins for the first time. Three of those weeks were spent healing her wounded leg. It was night time now, and Kari was curled up on the couch while the brothers were in their respective rooms. Kari was going to leave the next morning.

As the child slept she began to frown and toss and turn while whining. Her symbols began to glow as she shivered and whined.

----------

Kari was in a dark, inky black void-like room. Her own shadow resembled a circular shape, below her feet was a shimmering light silver color, and strange voices echoed throughout the area. The voices sounded almost demonic and were speaking all at once so that it was hard to pinpoint just one voice in the whole jumble of words, however even through the millions upon millions of voices two of them shot out at her loudly like sore thumbs.

"Run!"

"Get going now!"

"But-but I--!" Kari spoke in protest. She did not know why but these two demonic sounding voices reminded her of her parents.

"Don't talk back, run!!" The two voices spoke in unison and sounded desperate and scared. Kari gulped then started to jog, run, then she went into a full on sprint in a random direction. The voices followed Kari and the child covered her ears then clamped her eyes shut while she sped up. Eventually she felt like she was falling and then opened her eyes in fear as she plummeted from the inky blackness of the void-like room and into a pure golden room that hurt her eyes because it was so bright. Kari yelped in pain and fear as she neared what seemed to be the ground.

----------

Kari woke up with a jolt and tears in her sad, wide eyes. Her symbols were glowing brightly and she was trembling. She began hyperventilating as her trembling got worse. The child gripped her head and let out a scream and began crying with tightly closed eyes, her knees to her chest and her small, frail hands gripping her hair. Papyrus was the first down stairs while Sans slowly walked down, rubbing his left eye tiredly and yawning.

"Human! What's wrong?!" Papyrus asked and picked Kari up with a worried expression. Kari just cried and hiccuped while speaking gibberish. Papyrus sighed sadly and rubbed Kari's back to comfort her. Kari did not calm down much, but just enough to begin talking normally. The three sat together on the couch, Kari in the middle, and began to talk about what was making Kari cry.

"It was dark... I was alone and... I--I heard a lot of voices talking at once. I-I think I heard mommy and daddy screaming... They were telling me to run... I didn't know why they were telling me to run, b-but just that they were yelling at me to do so. I began running away like-like mommy and daddy said... Th-then I fell into a bright gold room... Then I woke up." Kari sniffled sadly and Sans gave a sad expression then rubbed Kari's head and looked at her with a soothing smile.

"Hey, don't worry kid. You'll see 'em again. I know you can get outta here and back home." He encouraged. Kari looked up at Sans when Papyrus chimed in.

"Of course she can, Sans! Human! I know you can get home!" Papyrus smiled kindly. Kari looked up at Papyrus and sniffled. A smile curled onto her lips and she wiped her eyes.

"Th-thanks guys." Kari said then yawned. Sans sighed then tucked Kari in while Papyrus picked up the dragon plush that was on the ground and gave it to the little girl. The two then went back to their rooms and went back to bed themselves.

When Kari woke up she got ready to go back on her journey. Papyrus gave her some lasagna and spaghetti for the road and Sans let her keep his old black hoodie since he was not using it anymore. Kari grabbed her things then zipped up her new hoodie, with the sleeves and bottom of it dragging on the ground because it was so big on her. Kari then went to the door, the two skeleton brothers walking her out, and left while waving to her friends. Sans pointed her in the direction of the river guy so she could get back to Waterfall quickly. Kari thanked him with a smile and she was off. Once Kari was out of sight Sans left with a huff.

"Sans? Where are you going?" Papyrus asked, slightly confused.

"I have a skele-ton of work to do." Sans chuckled in reply before he was out of sight. Papyrus grumbled at his brother's pun then went back to his sentry duties outside the Ruins.

When Kari arrived in Waterfall once again she began to press onward to continue her journey home. She walked for about two hours until she met up with Sans, who was standing by a telescope. Kari waved at him.

"Hey kid." Sans greeted with his usual smile. "I've been thinkin' 'bout gettin' into the telescope business. You wanna give this telescope a whirl? It's one of those premium telescopes. Using it usually costs a lot of money but since I know ya, I'll let you use it for free. So how 'bout it, kid?" Kari nodded happily.

"Sure. I'll try it." She smiled then went to look through the telescope, but she saw nothing but red. "Sans, it doesn't work.." Kari huffed then looked at,Sans with a frown. Her right eye was covered in red paint. Sans snickered as he saw her eye.

"Don't worry, kid." Sans winked. "I'll give ya a full refund." Kari sighed and went onward on her journey. She knew he was just messing with her since she did not give him any money to begin with. She went through a light maze that annoyed her because the lights kept going off when she did not want them to and the area would be pitch black. Eventually she made it to a hallway that had a small cave which was set up to be a shop with an old turtle monster running it. Kari looks around at the items he had to sell then noticed a weird drawing in the wall that reminded her of the symbol on Toriel's dress.

"Uh, mister. What's that thing?" She asked out of curiosity.

"Oh that? That's the "Delta Rune" kid. Not much to tell about it since its original meaning was lost in time. Oh, but the royal family use it as their symbol." Kari nodded. She sort of understood what he meant. She bought some food then left with a smile.

As Kari walked on she came across the "Wishing room" which was filled with glowing rocks on the ceiling that looked like stars. The child let out a small giggle and closed her eyes and whispered a quick wish then decided to stay for a nap since she was getting tired. Kari curled up near a wall and drifted off to sleep while thinking of her wish and what could lie ahead of her.

She's stupid. Wishes are dumb!

Shut up, she's only five.
