"Welcome home Charlie."
Man, those words hit me like a truck. It was like a physically slap in the face. The memories all at once invading my brain, I could feel my wolf growling at the thought of everything and everyone that's hurt me. I could still see the vivid images of myself, still too fresh of a wound. From my best friends turning their backs on me with humiliation, my brother disowning me, and the never ending torments of people from school. I could feel myself slipping into the same hole that made me leave in the first place. My eyes darting past my mothers confused ones, and to look around. My old instinct to run somewhere safe.
'Stop it Charlie! Just forget the memories' My wolf shouted at me again to calm down. Her voice bouncing through my mind loudly. I only just noticed I was breathing heavily.
'Charlotte STOP! Forget the memories, come back to the present, your changed your different. Hell you didn't have me in your head before, so calm down' my wolf all but shouted into my head, I could feel her stirring restlessly.
I forcefully slowed down my breathing, my tense shoulders slowly releasing the stress. I pulled my stare back to my mother, obvious to my close panic attack as she stared at my friends in curiosity.
Then walked up to my mum and pack who were standing near the front door waiting uncomfortably as they were yet to be introduced.
"Hey mum, let me introduce you, these are my best friends, Jade, Leon..." I kept introducing each one, and in return each one hugged my mum with kind hugs and eyes.
"Would it be alright if they stay in the guestrooms on my floor just until we figure out our own living arrangements?" I asked her.
Yes I've considered moving into another house with my pack during the plane flight because I do not want to be seeing my brother walking around the house with his egotistic player jerk friends. I shuddered thinking about all the times I'd seen them making out with girls, using them for their own personal needs and pleasure. Plus we were our own pack, we needed our own place where we wouldn't be interrupted by outsiders to our group.
"Sure, thats fine honey, it will be lovely having you he- wait a minute!" she suddenly shrieked at me. I cringed at the noise and looked at her worried, no one should ever make a noise that high especially around werewolves and their sensitive heightened hearing.
"Yes?" I asked her cautiously.
"You said until you figure out your own living arrangements... you're buying a house together instead of living here?" she asked hurt clearly evident on her face, she asked me to come here to finish off high school so she could spend time with me, to see me.
"Mum it's not that I don't want to live here its just I don't want to see Jake all the time after he hurt me badly and plus I need to stay with my pa-friends" I said trying to cover up my mistake with a small cough. Damn I need to control my mouth, we don't need any small slip ups.
"Oh..." she said, a solemn look taking its place on her face.
Then all of a sudden her face lit up, like telling a kid that Christmas is coming early. It was like she was bipolar.
"I know the perfect solution then" she said smiling a 100 watt smile, any bigger and she can be the Joker's long lost twin.
"What then?" I asked her even more worried and confused. Her frequent change of moods was kinda freaking me out.
