Walking down the hall it seemed different than usual. A breeze ran through through the school sending chills down my back. Everyone's eyes seemed cold and cruel on my back. I decided to put my black hoodie back on and seem as dark and mysterious that day as everyone else.

From class to class chills came more frequently. About 6th period Blake came up behind me leaning on the lockers. "Eww the jock stand ," I laughed." Maria there is something going on man. " "Stop you're just paranoid."

He took my face in his hands and whispered," Maria you're in trouble, real big trouble and you need to get away." His face was tight with worry as his words poured out. "Dude this is not funny and I'm not stupid. You can just -". He cut me off by kissing me. A long kiss that seemed to grow as it went on.

When he pulled away he mumbled," Now do you believe me. I spit out random words and he put his finger to my lips. "I'll go with you if you want," he whispered. " But my parents and school and all the other stuff," I snapped. " Please Maria I'll explain later just get your bag out of your locker and meet me by my car." These instructions were easy because he always parked in the same spot. 3rd spot first row. He walked awkwardly away and I walked towards my locker. I gathered my books and stuffed them in my bag.

Running through the hall, I made my way down the hall and out the door. Sure enough he sat in his 2012 Chevy grey truck. I swift walked to it like I had no worry about what's going on. He looked at me when I hopped in a half smiled. I gave a full smile and his face turned to a sorrowful frown.

He backed out and the next thing I know we are on the highway heading north. "What is the trouble I'm in," I questioned. He looked at me desperately and turned back to the road. "I'll give you some answers when we get out of state." "Out of state!?! That's crazy," I practically screamed. Chilly tears formed in his eyes as he looked at me.

I questioned no further when they started streaming down his face. " I'll protect you, I promise," he whispered. I nodded and put my head down on the window. I'm assuming this is going to be a long ride. I started to drift off when Blake made a sharp turn and bounced my head on the window. I looked out the window and it seemed we had left Texas behind. Thick forest surrounded the roads. We had yanked into a dirt road. " What state are we in," I mumbled looking around."Sweet Oklahoma," he laughed. I made a tiny gasp and we started driving on the rough road into the forest. Trees scratched the windows as we went deeper into this jungle.

When we pulled to a stop he turned to me. "There's a man after you," he informed me softly. "Why? This isn't a movie people don't just chase me." "I had some business problems with him and he's going after the ones I love." I gasped in shock. He loves me? "But you left your parents," I whispered. "He got to them before I could realize it," he almost sobbed. "Drugs?" He nodded in shame and looked up at me. "I won't let then get to you though ok? " I just closed my eyes, ready to explode. " Go ahead let me have it. Like dealing with my parents isn't enough I'll feel guilt from you. But no go on," he mumbled in tears. I just hugged him, probably the tightest I've ever hugged a person.

He cried on my shoulder and I couldn't imagine what he's feeling. All I know is that he's taking me far from Texas to protect me. He'll make sure I make it out of this. " Even if I die doing it," he whispered reading my mind. Life without Blake is unimaginable.
