Peddie- Gone

Midnight

Fabian's POV

The hour had fallen upon us. The hour of midnight. It was just like old times when we used to sneak up to the attic when Victor was on the prowl but Victor wasn't here, neither was Dan to my surprise. Dan must have gone out which made it easier for us all to sneak up and meet the girls. I grabbed the door handle and turned it gently trying not to wake anybody up.

Eddie, Jerome, Alfie, Brad and myself went upstairs as quiet as a mouse to be greeted by the girls at the top.
We got to the top and the girls had picnic blankets spread out over the creaky floor boards covered in an aray of snacks: breadsticks, pizza, chocolate and even had fizzy drinks too.
We all sat down and Alfie and Jerome immediately grabbed food for themselves.
Amber knocked the cake out of Alfie's hand.
"Hey. What was that for?" He said irritated

"Children have gone missing and all you care about is food Alfred Lewis"
Jerome chuckled about to take a bite of his cake until his was knocked out of his hand by Joy.

"That goes for you too Jerome" Now it was Alfie's turn to laugh.

"Guys" Eddie said, gathering everyone's attention.
"As you know, Jade and Jake have gone missing so..."

"Way to state the obvious Sherlock" Jerome muttered under his breath, Joy nudged his arm.

"As I was saying, I think that it will be best if we all split off into groups so that we can cover more area quicker and everybody is off school so both the school and the house should be empty for at least another week"

"Teams? Mr Miller" Jerome interrupted once more

"Jerome" I blurted out, irritated myself. "If you actually let him speak maybe he can get to who is in what group"

"Thank you Fabian" Eddie said. "I think it will be best if myself, Patricia and Brad check the crypt for anything. Jerome, Alfie and Amber stay here and check the house and watch out for Trudy and Dan because they can't catch you snooping about where you should be and..."

"Wait, why aren't I in a team with Joy?" Jerome said

"You three are best at distractions and cover stories" Eddie clarified

"That means the final team of Nina, Fabian and Joy to check the school"
Everyone looked around and nodded at the choices given.

"Any questions?" Patricia imputed
Nobody said a word.
"Well I'm glad everything is sorted" Nina said standing up and grabbing her bag.
"I think we should go before we get caught"

"Yeah let's go" I agreed standing up. Everyone shortly followed.

"Owwww" Alfie screeched tripping over something covered up.
"Alfie are you alright?" Amber questioned grabbing his arm to get him on his feet.

Nina knelt down and lifted the sheet of the object.
"What is it?" Joy asked

"A box of old pieces of paper and just a lot of junk"

"Let me have a look" Eddie said. Before he could get a proper glance at it. A bellowing voice yelled up.

"Whoever is up there should come down immediately. You have five seconds or else" Eddie pulled the sheet over the box.

"We can't let him know we have been up here. He'll be onto us" Patricia said with slight fear in her voice.

"Well we can't just disappear" Alfie clarified

"Disappear, that's exactly what we will do" Nina said, holding her locket.

"I'm coming up there" Dan bellowed
We heard the door handle turn open and footsteps coming closer.

"Where are you hiding?" He said surveying the room.
