*So...I had given up on this story, but I didn't know how to end it. I came back and saw 1.2K READS!! :D That's INSANE!! Thank you guys.*
My POV~~
I open my eyes and it's dark. I'm not even sure my eyes are open, until a small light grew far away from where I was.
I felt like I was in Finding Nemo when Dory and Marlin saw the light in the abyss and went towards it.
I found myself slowing going towards it. The light slowly grew bigger and brighter. Also, I felt lighter, like I could fly.
'Wait a minute! Is this...death?' I ponder. 'No, it can't be! I'm too young to die! What about my friends; my family? What about Niall?'
I try to stop. I scrap my feet on the ground. I fling my arms around. Nothing stops my movement.
The light is now bigger than me. I attempt to stop one more time before being engulfed by the light.
I step from a black room to a bright, white room. At the far end, stood a girl in a white gown. I approached her cautiously.
She's smiling like a Barbie doll; big and fake.
"Hello?" I ask, standing in front of her.
"Hi," she greeted. "Welcome to Heaven."
'Oh shit....'
Niall's POV~~
I pace anxiously in the waiting room, biting my nails down to stubs. One time I tasted blood and moved to the next nail.
The boys gave up tiring to comfort me an hour ago. They sat in chairs and watched me eat my fingers. Louis suggested food, but I turned it down for the 2nd time in my life.
Mackenzie has been in surgery for 3 hours now. 'What could be taking so long? Were there complications? Or is it just taking longer than they expected?'
As if the surgeon could read my mind, he approached me, still in his scrubs. I practically ran up to him. "Is she okay?" I ask immediately.
The doctor took off his scrub cape. "Sit down Mr. Horan."
I sat down with him, already a lump forming in my throat.
"Is she okay?" I repeated.
"Mackenzie had a tumor on her lower stomach. It's nothing we've seen before and it was like it was eating away at her organs."
I don't like where this it going.
"We tried everything-"
I stopped him there. I don't need to hear anymore of it. "No! No! Don't say it! She can't be!" I cry, jumping up from my seat.
Liam took my seat and talked to the doctor while Zayn and Louis dragged me out of the hospital.
The air was chilled but I couldn't feel it. I felt numb everywhere. Zayn and Louis let me go and I exploded.
I ran down the road, wiping out my wings, and taking off into the night. My shirt ripped off but I don't care. I flew as fast as I could.
I heard Louis and Zayn calling after me, but I didn't stop. I hear them coming after me.
Tears fall down my face. Sobs block my airways. My muscles feel like wet noodles. Soon, I don't have the strength to flap my wings. I slowly lose altitude.
Two arms hold me up. They fly me to the nearest park and we land in a tree. Zayn and Louis carry me down. I feel like nothing; like I'm not complete anymore.
Zayn sits me down at the base of a big oak tree. Louis sits to my left and Zayn to my right.
I rest my head on Louis's shoulder and cry softly. Zayn massages my shoulder blades while Louis combs his fingers through my hair.
"She's gone, isn't she?" I snuffle.
"Yeah...," Zayn says softly.
I buried my face in Louis's neck, sobbing.
We didn't say anything after that. There was no need to. Mackenzie is dead. That's all that needs to be said.
I don't know how long we stayed there and I don't know how long I cried for. After a while though, the last of my tears fell. I sat up, wiping my eyes. There's a big wet spot on Louis's shoulder but he didn't seem to care.
Louis and Zayn helped me stand up. "We should get back to the bus," Zayn suggested.
"No," I answered. "Let's get a hotel."
Louis and Zayn nodded and helped me fly to a hotel. It turned out to be 3 in the morning and nobody was in the lobby.
Louis ordered a room and asked for no room service. He got the keys and all three of us rode the elevator to our room.
I stayed quiet the whole time, only nodding at times.
They helped me into bed, tucking me in like my mum used to. I closed my eyes and listened to them speak.
"What are we going to do?" Zayn asked Louis.
"I don't know. Niall isn't going to be the same, possibly forever. We'll have to cancel the tour."
"This happened to Liam and we made it okay. We'll be okay," Zayn reasured, though he doesn't sound too convinced.
"I'm going to call Harry. Liam and him are probably still at the hospital." I heard Louis step into the bathroom and close the door.
I felt Zayn sit on the bed. He takes off his shoes and spoons me. "Zayn?" I whisper.
"Shh Niall. Just sleep. We'll think in the morning."
I nestled into Zayn's warm body, feeling the exhaustion of the day weighing down on me. I let myself go and fell asleep.
