Melanie POV

"Good morning, darling. What can I get you?" Viv, the elderly woman asked.

"Hey good morning. I would like a hazelnut coffee with a cream cheese bagel please," I smiled and she did the same.

"Your order is coming right up," She replied.

"Thank you," I said and she nodded her head.

Once I received my order, I sat down in the booth that was near the window.

The café was busy as usual and while people chattered, I focused my attention towards today's newspaper that my dad gave me.

I sighed since nothing occurred out of the ordinary. It contained the usual politics of today's world along with its news.

I picked up my coffee again, inhaling its lovely scent.

The air was thick with the smell of coffee throughout the café. While I ate my breakfast, my mind wandered off to my father's birthday being today.

I personally would have loved to celebrate his birthday with him, but he hated doing so.

He never told me the reason why, but whatever the reason it was he would rather have his day to be kept simple.

Surely he was opposite when compared to my mother when she loved the finger things in life and would have much rather opt for a huge celebration on her day.

But even though the two were very different, polar opposites surely attracted to each other.

When I looked up, I noticed a guy staring at me. He was handsome, wore a simple outfit with messy style bed hair, a leather jacket, and biker boots.

Seeing that he was not going to look away anytime soon, I gave him a sheepish smile but his facial expression remained unchanged which was readable.

"Weirdo," I muttered underneath my breath when I looked away. When I looked up again, I saw that he was still staring at me.

Feeling annoyed, I rolled my eyes at him and sat on the other side of the booth where my back was faced to him.

At least now I didn't have to see the creep face again, I thought.
