Chapter 9

Few days later....

While I took a sip of my coffee, someone spoke.

"Hello beautiful, would you mind if I sit with you?" A man with a red velvety voice said.

"Oh sure," I sighed not caring to admire his good looks.

"What's your name?" He asked, seeing that I was in a not so good mood.

"Melanie, yours?" I asked.

"Josh," He replied.

"Nice," I replied. He then looked at my outfit with an unreadable expression.

"What?" I asked a bit annoyed.

"Nothing, I was ugh just thinking...."

"Is it that I wore I different outfit," I rolled my eyes at him.

"Yeah," He smiled a bit but seeing that I was serious he quickly masked.

"Well I don't remember telling you this the next day, but my parents told me that I have anterograde amnesia because of a boat accident. So I can't form new memories..." I shrugged my shoulders.

"Ah, I see,"

"Yup, so if you're thinking if this," I pointed between us, "will be anything more than maybe you should look for someone else," I said in a final tone.

"Do you have a boyfriend or something?"

"Not that I know of...I mean no," I took a sip of my coffee.

"Well then give me chance," He smiled a boyish grin.

"Wait you want to get to know me like dating?"

"You may not believe this or not, but I think you are the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. And you having short term memory loss does not change my feelings about you," He said as he cupped my cheek as he smirked.

"But-"

"I'm not letting a girl as you go so let me take you out on a date," He said determined and I thought for a moment before he spoke again, "alright give me chance I promise that you won't regret," He replied, reassuringly.

"But promises are made to be broken. Is it not?"

"Not mine because I'm a true man of my words," He replied with sincerity in his eyes.

"Alright, I'll give you a chance," I responded when he smirked.

I was crazy to give a guy I just a chance to date, but I figured life is too short to live so why not, I thought.
