One Day

"You guys are so cute."

I agreed. Me and Nate were walking down the sidewalk, our arms around each other's waist and hands entwined. So cute, that's us.

"I love you," he whispered in my ear.

"I love you more."

"Not possible."

"It is. I love you more than you can fathom."

"You compare one small tree to the whole forest, my dear."

I shot him a troubled look. "Are you quoting Twilight?"

He avoided my gaze. "Perhaps."

I giggled. "Freaky Nate. Anyways, you compare a singular forest to the freaking Sequoias."

"Redwood forest."

"Amazon jungle."

"The Sahara."

"Alaska."

"Asia."

"Africa."

"I love you."

"I love you too."

"Oh. My. God," Nattie groaned. "You guys are making me throw up a little bit."

I frowned at him. "TMI."

"Ew," Nate added.

"You guys are so... compatible it's sickening."

"Nattie's just jealous-" I began.

"Of us. He doesn't have anyone," Nate finished.

"Nope. He spends his time with Will-"

"And Twitter."

I nodded.

Nattie rolled his eyes. "We've created a monster."

"They're cute," Will defended.

"Yeah, Nattie," I said, glaring at him. "We're cute. If anyone's the monster-"

"It's you," Nate and I finished together.

Jack and Andrew made gagging sounds. I attempted to smack them but I liked my position under Nate's arm.

"I'd hit you but I don't want to move," I warned them.

"I'm terrified," Jack mocked.

I narrowed my eyes at him. "Will, could you please smack him for me," I asked sweetly.

Will obediently whacked Jack's arm.

"What the hell, man," Jack snapped, glaring at him.

"How did you do that?" Nate whispered to me in shock.

"It's a gift," I shrugged.

He sighed happily. "I love you."

"I love you too."

"I love you so much."

"I love you more."

We started kissing against the railing. Lemme tell you, Nate's an amazing kisser okay. I'm addicted. It's like heroine. Oh god, he has me quoting Twilight. What's become of me?

"Alright, break it up," Nattie announced, waving his arms between us.

I detached myself halfway from Nate but kept my arm around him so we were sort of halfway hugging.

"Poor guy," Will muttered. "He's whipped."

"Tell me about it," Nattie agreed.

Nate rolled his eyes at them. "Someday you guys will understand."

"Oh my god, I hope not," Nattie gagged. Will snickered.

"Where did Jack and Andrew go?" I asked, ignoring them.

"Who knows," Will shrugged.

"Who cares," Nattie added. I sighed. Men.

"ONLY GOT TWENTY DOLLARS IN MY POCKET!" I wailed. Nate laughed at me.

"This is fucking awesome."

That song was too damn catchy for it's own good.

Nattie started walking backwards down the street. A disaster waiting to happen, definitely. Sure enough, he ran into some guy who was innocently walking down the street. They toppled down the hill.

Nattie began swearing explicitly and the guy brushed himself off and continued on.

"Smooth," I said. Will snickered.

"SCARLETT!"

I screamed as Jack popped from nowhere.

"Sorry," he smirked.

"Humph," I grunted.

"I just wanted to tell you that I approve," he said gravely.

I shot him a strange look. "Of what?"

"Of Scarnate."

"Um. Okay. Thanks."

"Anytime. Make him happy, chick."

Hmm, that was weird. Jack pranced away again and I sighed into Nate's jacket.

"You okay?" He asked.

"Yeah. Just sort of tired."

"How can that be? You drank like four espressos," he joked.

I would've glared at him, but y'know. I was tired.

"Not funny," I grumbled.

"I don't want you to fall asleep," he worried. "At the concert, I mean. Do you wanna go back to the hotel?"

I simply nodded. I suppose pulling an all nighter the night before was a bad idea.

Suddenly Nate picked me up bridal style and I closed my eyes.

"I'm gonna take her back to the hotel," he said to someone as he waved down a taxi. "Wow, Red, you way nothing."

I didn't say anything, mostly cause I was already asleep.

*

I woke up in a fancy hotel room. I rolled out of bed and walked into the kitchen. There was a note stuck on the fridge.

Red-

Glad you woke up, sleepy head. I had to leave for sound checks, but I'll see you tonight after the concert.

Love you,

Nate xoxo

I grinned and shoved the note in my pocket before checking the time. The concert was in an hour.

"DAMN!" I shouted. I still needed to shower and stuff!

After I did all that stuff, like hair and whatnot, I waved down a taxi and went to the stadium.

Hmm.

I was seeing fun. I was dating Nate Ruess. I, Scarlett Collinger, was dating Nate Ruess. From fun. From the Format. From P!nk's 'Just Give Me A Reason.'

Sometimes, it's very hard to tell if this is reality. But I know it is.

But, just to make sure, I pinched myself.

"OW!" I shrieked. The taxi dude stared at me. Well, it was reality... Because it hurt like hell.
