Out On The Town

SCARLETT'S POV

I feel no shame in admitting that I took full advantage of the fact that Mom and Dad were gone. They left at seven o'clock and made some sort of vow not to be back before midnight. Please. They probably wouldn't be back when I woke up tomorrow.

I staked out on the camper couch in my pajamas (red flannel pants and a random fun. T-shirt) let my hair down, plugged in my laptop and started watching music videos.

It's a tough life but somebody has to do it.

After seeing the All The Pretty Girls music video seven times in a row (you know that little shimmey Nate does when he says 'I wish all the pretty girls were shaking me down?' Oh, man. That shimmey did stuff to me) I couldn't think of what else to do.

I set my laptop aside and stretched, flopping back onto the couch and successfully shaking the trailer. Acheivment unlocked, am I right?

I skipped over to the mirror and stared at myself. Long red-brown hair, approximately nineteen freckles across my nose and brown eyes. Oh, joy.

I shimmied down, trying to imitate his truly adorable dance move and failing epically. And by his, I mean Nate Ruess, my soulmate and the singer for the two best bands ever to exist, the Format and fun.

"Nate, Nate, you are my inspiration," I sighed, shaking my head. I wished I was out on the streets of New York, which is where he lived! But nooo, here I was, stuck inside my camper while my mom and dad hit the town.

About my mom and dad... they're actually pretty cool, compared to some parents, like my best friend Cammie. Mine were super down to earth and hated to punish me. Not that I did very many punishable things, but still. Speaking of them...

"Scarlett?"

I whipped around. "I thought you weren't gonna be back until at least midnight! It's," I checked my watch. "Only nine o'clock."

She nodded. "I know, I know, but someone came with us!"

"Yeah, look who we met!"

My dad beamed and stepped aside. My mouth dropped open. There was Jack Antonoff, Andrew Dost and Nate Ruess.

"... what," I choked out, almost falling over. I noticed that my laptop was open and showing my desktop background, which was a picture of them being generally adorable. Shit.

"Surprise!" My mother exclaimed, looking thrilled at my reaction. She turned to Nate. Oh my fucking god, Nate Ruess was in my trailer. Pinch me, I must be dreaming.

I shrieked. "Ow!"

"Are you okay?" Andrew asked in a concered tone.

I blushed furiously. "Uh, yeah, just pinched myself because I didn't know if you were real or if I was dreaming and you know what they say, you can't feel pain in a dream so I pinched myself and it hurt and... yeah."

Kill me now.

Nate chuckled attractively at my word vomit. I don't want to keep saying they did things hotly, because their always hot. Just assume they do things attractively every time.

"Well, we'll be going now!" Mom chirped, yanking Dad out the door.

"You're leaving!?" I demanded, hoping my panic wasn't evident. They weren't really going to leave me alone with fun, right? Right?

Wrong.

"Yep, bye Lettie! Have fun!"

Was that an intended pun? I think it was.
