Sirens and Lawyers

It had been a month and a half now since Ben had lashed out at Riley and cleaned out his things. And he had stopped at nothing to claim Emma, but he failed every time. Riley was out of the hospital and Danny had convinced her to lease out her apartment and come stay with them where he could be sure she'd be safe.

One night in July, there was a knock on the door. Everybody sprung out of bed, Tucker opened the door to find a Sherriff and Deputy on the other side.
"Officer?" He said. The others came in,
"Tuck, who is it?" Danny said.
"The cops."
"Does a Bonnie Wheeler reside here?" The Sherriff asked.
Danny replied "No, her apartment is across the street. What did she do?"
"Not her, we're here on account of one Benjamin Wheeler."
"I'm his older brother. What happened?"
"He was arrested tonight in a drug raid along several others."
Everyone's mouth dropped. Ben arrested? Or moreover, Ben doing drugs?
"Thank you Sherriff, I'll pass the news on to my mom and we will call your office tomorrow for further instructions."
"Very good. Goodnight Mr. Wheeler. Ma'am (tipping his hat to a tired Riley), sir. (Nodding to Tucker.)"
Tucker shut the door, no one could go back to sleep.
While Emma's formula heated Danny called Bonnie and told her the news.
She was disappointed, what was Ben doing? Sure she wasn't the best mom in the world but one thing she had told the boys since they were little is never get involved with drugs.

Riley had to lay back down to calm her nausea, and Tucker caught a few winks on the couch. Danny sat at the table, feeding Emma her bottle.
"Oh Ben, what have you done?" He said to the air.

The next week was filled with emotion as Bonnie and Danny attended Ben's court hearing. He had been arrested for possession of drugs and Angela had been arrested for possession and distribution of Drugs.
Riley decides to stay behind and watch Emma. She was nauseas and didn't really want to see Ben.

The judge sentenced Ben to 2 years in state prison and Angela got 4 years. The judge also told Ben that CPS was taking Emma out of his custody and giving custody to Danny and Bonnie.
They asked Bonnie if she wanted the judge to reduce the sentence, but she declined saying that Ben needed to face the consequences of his reckless actions.
And so, the last glimpse of Ben that Bonnie saw was him being escorted out of the courtroom.
