Nice to meet you

The phone rang for the fourth time,
Riley's hands were full of soap from washing the kids' hair, so Danny got the phone.
"Wheeler house!" He said
"Danny, it's Ben. I'm out on Parole and want to talk to you."
"Oh hey Ben!" Danny said
Riley came into the room, holding a freshly diapered Parker Dallas on her hip.
"Is that Ben?" She asked
"Yeah, he's out on parole and wanted to talk."
Bens voice came over the phone
"I'd really like to come see you guys, and talk to Emma and meet Joy and your new one, Parker is it?"
"I'm not so sure that's a good idea Ben.
You're kind of a sensitive subject around here."
"Please Danny, I just want to see them."
" I'll talk to Riley about it. It's good to hear your voice again Ben."
Danny hung up the phone, and looked over at Riley. "He's out on Parole and wants to come see us. I told him I'd talk to you."
"I don't want to see him Danny, and I don't want him to see the kids."
" I know how you feel but don't you think he has a right to at least see his kids?"
" no Danny, I don't. He lost that right when he walked out on us."

As Ben awaited the call back from
Danny, he went back to "The Bar and B" where he used to work.
Karl, who used to be his coworker was now the manager and the bar had been turned into a nightclub.
Gosh, everything really had changed in the last 5 years.
That's when he realized how selfish he'd been and how much he had missed. Emma was almost 2 when he was incarcerated, now she'd be almost 6.
The phone rang, it was Danny.
"Hey Danny!"
"You can see the kids. I'll bring them to see you on Friday. Riley doesn't want to see you. She hasn't forgiven you for walking out on her. Don't get your hopes up about hitting it off with Emma, she's still confused on how she feels."
"Thank you Danny. It means a lot."
"I don't trust you. But, your girls deserve to get to know you. Parker will stay with Riley."
"Okay, thanks again Danny."
The phone hung up.

Ben waited at the park. He nervously played with a button in his shirt. He had two flower bouquets on the picnic table behind him as he sat down to wait.
That's when he saw Danny come around the corner, with two little girls, holding their hands as the breeze made their hair dance.
"Hey Danny!"
"Hi Ben. We have 4 hours, then we're on a plane to California to see Tucker."
Ben looked at the two girls.
Danny said "this one with the green eyes and blonde hair is Joy."
Then, squeezing Emma's hand he said
"This is Emma."
Ben smiled at the girls.
"Hi girls! I'm your daddy! Nice to meet you!"
