I watched as Misty Glass struts over to me in gym. I look at her and hold back a gag.

She's wearing short red booty shorts and a white crop top. She bats her eyelashes at Charlie and he smiles a big smile. I sigh and place my hands in my hands.

"Something wrong Ness?" Misty's high-pitched voice swirls around me along with her vanilla perfume. I've never understood why girls wanted to smell like dessert. I look at her and she's sitting on the bleacher below me.

"Nope." I say trying to keep my voice equal with my thoughts. It wasn't a complete lie...sure I don't like how Misty was flirting with Charlie. I didn't like how Charlie liked her flirting with him. I especially didn't like how Jonah wasn't here today...he totally left me hanging on the brim of my sanity. He left so many questions in my mind and he left me with a hollow feeling in my stomach.

"Does it have to do with your lover boy?" She asks as she cocks her head to the side making her strawberry blonde locks tilt. I finally look at her.

"If you want to date Charlie, then that's not my concern." I say as I watch the coach walk in through the big double doors.

"I wasn't talking about Charlie silly." She says as she pushes me lightly. I clench my teeth closed. "I'm talking about Jonah West."

Jonah West.

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"Everyone with eyes saw the little outburst you guys had in the parking lot. Cute." She says and I can feel the chill in her voice. The ice blade undertone that most people don't see because of her stunning looks but she doesn't faze me. "Why isn't he here today?"

"How would I know?" I snap at her. She doesn't take my hint, saying I want the conversation to be over.

"I mean, you guys are dating right?"

"No," I say. "Honestly, I can't stand him."

"Can't stand him? Or can't stand being away from him?" She asks right before the coach blows her whistle making Misty turn around and push her hair behind her back. I gulp and shake off my thoughts.

"Okay!" The coach bellows. "I need you to get into partners, we are doing conjoined dodgeball. You and your partner will be tied together by the wrist!"

He claps and everyone finds a partner. Sadly, Tammy doesn't have gym with me and I look around for someone who doesn't have a partner. I feel a tap on my shoulder and look behind me.

I'm greeted by a pair of green eyes mere inches away from mine. I jump back and fall backwards onto the bleacher behind me.

"Ow." I mutter under my breath. I look up at Charlie and glare. "Don't scare me like that."

"It was kind of funny Nessie," he says as he grins down at me. I smile a little and he offers me a hand up. I gratefully take it. "Partners?"

I shrug as he runs off to get us the velcro death trap. He comes back and secures our wrists together. Since Charlie is taller than me, he has to hold his hand up a little and he drags me behind him as he rushes to the court where everyone is waiting.

"Ready?" He whispers to me as the coach blows the whistle and everyone runs to get a ball. I run towards the corner where it's safe while Charlie pulls me towards the middle of the danger area. We stretch and end up shooting back and colliding into each other.

"We need to get away from there!" I yell over the laughs and shouts. He shakes his head and pulls me forcefully towards the middle.

Woah, he's strong. I think to myself as he practically drags me behind him. I wonder for a second if Jonah is going to appear and say something back...nothing happens and I feel my stomach full with butterflies when I feel the same crawling feeling in my brain.
