Julian's P.O.V.
Jules hoped that this plan would work. He couldn't lose the others after Emma. Emma. He wasn't able to tell her how much he loved her. How he had loved her since they were young. How she was the only for him.
This was for her, Livvy, and Taylor. This was to avenge them and hopefully save Livvy and Taylor if they were still alive. If anyone had tortured them, he would make the torturer have a long and slow death.
He stood in his room, strapping his gear on. Clothed entirely in black. Julian fastened his belt and reached for his crossbow. Its grip felt comforting in his hands. He slung the quiver of arrows around his body.
A knock sounded on his door. Showtime.
Julian walked over to his door and flung it open. Mark stood there with his hand still raised for another knock. He dropped his arm and jerked his head down the hall.
They walked together down to the entrance hall of the Institute. Tina, Diana, and Ty were all there already. Uncle Arthur was going to stay behind to take care of Dru and Tavvy, who were too young to go fight.
The whole group gathered into one car and set off to their destination. Since Mark couldn't speak the directions, he drew out the path on a map using a black marker.
The drive wasn't very long to the park. But to Jules, it was an eternity of waiting. His knee bounced up and down, anticipation and adrenaline coursing through him. He was going to the place where Emma died.
Diana drove fast. In all of the years that Diana had been their trainer, he had never seen her drive so urgently. Her hands were so tight on the steering wheel, that they turned white. Her face was a mask of concentration; the koi tattoo stood vibrant and black against her skin.
Tina sat in the front passenger seat. Her sleek black hair pulled into a braid. Emma always put her hair in a braid whenever she had to go fight demons. It was almost as if every single one of Julian's thoughts drifted back to Emma. He thought of her 24/7.
Ty seemed just as alert as himself. Why wouldn't he be? His twin sister and the girl whom he loved were either both dead or suffering in a little dungeon. They were some of the closest people to his heart.
Julian remembered how Ty was when their father died. He was hysterical; he kept beating on Julian's chest and yelling at him that he had killed their father until Livvy grabbed his hands and told him that Jules had to do it. He had to. If Julian hadn't killed his father, Ty would have been murdered by his own father's hands.
Jonathan Christopher Morgenstern, better known as Sebastian Morgenstern, had changed his father so much, that he wasn't even their father anymore. He was a shadowhunter that was Turned against his will.
Julian let that rage fill him now. All of that pent up anger he had over the years. The frustration of having to take care of all of his siblings without any help from anyone other than Emma. The grief he felt for the deaths of his parents and Emma. The rage towards the Clave for sending away his older sister and not looking hard enough for his brother when they promised that they would.
The whole car was silent the entire ride there. No one spoke a word. They were all focusing their thoughts on the task at hand. Find the girls and kill whoever took them.
Mark sat beside him. His face was blank, a void of nothingness. No emotion showed. His pale hair nearly reached his eyes. His long slender fingers were still and folded in his lap. Julian wondered what his brother was thinking of.
The trees appeared ahead. The park was coming into view. Diana parked the car and everyone filed out. Mark led them in the direction through the trees and bushes. Fallen leaves crunched under their feet.
