Ian sighed, looking at the blank sheet of paper in front of him.  "We're in eighth grade... Why are we still making Christmas cards?"

"Your vacation starts tomorrow.  I thought I'd be nice and give you a fun thing on your last day.  Unless you want science worksheets..."

"Right.  Never mind Mrs. Autumn."

Anthony was sitting next to him, sketching boredly.  Ian looked around the classroom at the other students.  Most notably, his friends.  Well, the people he knew anyway.

David was in the back corner of the room, bent over his paper.  David was...well, a troublemaker.  He was the oldest kid in the class- not that you'd know by his height.  He'd been expelled from two schools before ending up there last year.  It came as a shock to everyone, but David was extremely talented when it came to art.  His most known piece was the Lasercorn.

Sitting next to David was Joshua, making a- probably- horrible joke.  Joshua was a mostly blind theatre kid, who had a very close friendship with David.  Joshua had a bit of a speech impediment, but that was mostly fixed, save for some stuttering from time to time.

On the other side of the room, Matt was in a huge hoodie, looking at something under his desk.  Ian assumed it was a GameBoy he'd somehow snuck in.  Matt was a bit of a social outcast, keeping to himself most of the time.

Mari, next to Matt, tended to be an exception.  They were always hanging out together.  Mari was looking over Matt's shoulder, watching him play.  She was Japanese, and still spoke in slightly rough English.  Especially when she spoke fast or was mad.

Wes was sitting up front, and despite being the youngest person in the class, he was the tallest.  Wes was an overly happy, optimistic person.  He loved candy, cookies, and pretty much any other type of sweet thing.  He was welcoming, and most people liked him.

Amra- or Flitz as he much preferred- was next to Wes.  He was a lot more quiet than Wes, and wore large-framed glasses, usually half covered by an eyepatch due to an eye problem.

Ian shook his head, looking back to his almost empty paper.   Anthony looked over.  "You okay dude?"

Ian nodded, sighing softly.  "Yeah.  I'm okay."

Anthony offered a small smile.  "Alright.  So are we still on for Wednesday next week?"

"You know it."

From the back of the room, an deep voice called out, "Just kiss already!"

Ian and Anthony both blushed brightly, and Mrs.  Autumn sighed.  "Mark, please."

"Yeah, Mark.  Stop bein' weird."

"Shut up Jack."

Anthony rolled his eyes, muttering, "And they say we need to kiss..."

Ian laughed, shaking his head.  "Weirdo."

Anthony grinned, swatting at his arm.  Ian swatted back, starting an admittedly girly fight between them.

"Ian!  Anthony!  Don't make me separate you two."

Anthony stopped, quickly going back to his paper.  "Sorry Mrs. Autumn."

Eventually, Ian finished his drawing.  As they finished, Mrs. Autumn was hanging them on the closet doors.  David had been one of the first done.  His drawing was a badass reindeer, fighting a moose.  Mari's was a few Pokemon sitting around a Christmas tree.  Mark's was a dog curled up next to a fire.  Upon closer inspection, the dog's collar read 'Chica'.  Sean, well, Jack's picture was a green, floating eyeball with a Santa hat on.  Jack had explained the eye was 'Septic eye Sam'.  Wes's was of a gingerbread house, which shocked no one.  Flitz's picture was a zebra.  At least, as far as Ian could tell.  Joshua's drawing was probably a scene from a musical, knowing him.  Anthony had sketched out a wintery scene in the woods.  Finally, Ian had drawn a fireplace.  He'd been uninspired, and just drew the first thing to pop into his head.

Ian smiled as he sat back down.  "Merry Christmas Anthony."

"Merry Christmas Ian."
