Mary POV:

I woke up early this morning and headed to the common room. I looked ou the window and saw a perfect view so I grabbed my sketch pad and I chair. I love drawing particularly fashion designs. Wow. As I looked again at the scenery I couldn't believe my eyes. The sunrise looked spectacular in between the hills and the lake just added the perfect touch. In New York I always used to draw the skyline. It was pretty but loud, here at Hogwarts, there was absoulutley no noise. It was perfect. I sat the for an hour before I heard a voice. "What's that your doing?" a male voice asked me. "Oh it's just the sunrise." I replied. "It is beautiful isn't. Seamus Finnigan," he stuck out he hand "pleasure to meet you." "Mary McElroy, the pleasure is all mine." Seamus was handsome, I wanted him. I put my sketch pad down and tried to talk to him. "Don't let me interupt you, I wa-" "Oh no it's ok, I just finished anyway." "So, your new but your not a first year." "Yeah I just moved from the United States." "I wasn't aware they let new students in." "Yeah neither was I but I guess they made an exception..." "So if your an American, how'd you even know about Hogwarts?" Seamus asked me. "Well, my grandparents and my parents went here and Professor McGonagall is also my aunt. An Hogwarts is about the biggest school in the wizarding world." "Yes, I suppose. Well it was nice meeting you Mary, I'd better get ready for breakfast." "Nice meeting you too Seamus."

I put my chair back and plopped down on the couch. Seamus and I are going to be together forever, I thought. I looked down at my drawing. I'll color it with pastels tonight. I'll go get ready for breakfast, too.

Seamus POV:

Mary McElroy is the most beautiful girl at Hogwarts. Everything about her is graceful, her walk, her talk, her sketches, even her pajamas were beautiful. I've got a small chance with her though. Dean was telling me last night about how gorgeous she was and at the feast I heard Harry and Ron talking about her. No girl would pick ME over Harry Potter, the boy who lived. Maybe she doesn't know about him yet, after all she is American. And even if she doesn't like Harry, there's still other Grffyndors in our year. And Slytherins. And Ravenclaws. And Hufflepuffs. Wait no one in there right mind would go out with a Hufflepuff. What even is a Hufflepuff anyway? So there's still Slytherins and Ravenclaws. And even if she doesn't like anyone in our year, there's still the older boys and the younger ones and ik sure even some girls like her! Fat chance I'll ever be with her...

Mary POV:

I left the common room and headed up the stairs when some girl stopped me. "Hi. I'm Mary I just moved here fro-" "Don't bother I heard your whole conversation. You know with Seamus- MY Seamus." "Umm" "Just so you know, Seamus and I are kind of an item and I don't need some peppy American to come in and take that away. I've like Seamus since the first year and we just started dating last year so don try and rain on my parade. Just because your prettier than me doesn't mean you can just walk in here and steal my man." "I'm sorry, I didnt know I couldn't have a simple conversation with someone around here." We stare at each other with scowls on our faces for about two minutes. I move to walk away when she say "I'm Lavender Brown by the way- I'm sure you've heard of me by now, everyone's always talking about me." "Well it was a real pleasure meeting you Purple." "The pleasures all mine Marie." I've been at Hogwarts less than a day and I already have a enemy. I get dressed and do my hair in a simple side braid before going to breakfast. I make sure to pu a protection charm on all my stuff just in case of Lavender. What a stupid name, Lavender Brown. It's two colors it's just plain stupid.

I go down to breakfast and sit down by myself, again. It isn't long before the owls arrive. I got a letter from Gram.

To My Little Mary Chole,

I am so proud of you on making Gryffindor! I know your Grandfather and parents would be so proud! I sent your dress for the Yule Ball to Minerva. Remember when we went window shopping in Times Square and you saw that one you really liked, I brought it for you as a going away present. I'm sure every boy will ask you princess. The apartment is very lonely without you and I miss you very much. I know that you are having a great time so far. Send my hello to Minerva and Albus. Write back soon!

Love,

Gram

I'm at the end of the letter when Ginny and that Hermione Granger girl come sit by down. "So how's your first day been so far?" Hermione asks me. "Ok I guess I had a little encounter with Lavender Brown." "That's ok," Ginny says "No one really likes her." "So Ginny and I came over here to tell you everyones names s your not completely clueless." Hermione explained. "Great thanks! Let's get started." "Ok the girl closest to me," Ginny says "Is Parvati Patil, next to her is of course Lavender, her best friend. Then it's Dean Thomas and then" "Seamus Finnigan" I say "Yeah I met him this morning." "Looks like someone like Finnigan, Hermione." Ginny says jokingly "Just because I talked to someone for 5 minutes doesn't mean I like him!" I protest. "Not always, but you do." "Think whatever you want, Ginny. Hermione please continue." "So next to Seamus is Neville Longbottom. Then Ron Weasley and Harry Potter." "I'm guessing Ron's your brother, Ginny." "You guessed right. Him, Hermione and Harry are all really good friends too." "Oh that's cool." "Yeah" Hermione says "Maybe you can hangout with us sometime." "That'd be fun." "Well we'd better be heading to class, Mary. See you later, Ginny." "Bye girls!"
