Riley and i went on like this for months, each day we would go out onto our secret spot on the oval, only leaving eachothers embrace when forced to other sides of the school for class. Every day he would bring me a rose, and greet me at the door of my class. Jamie reaped the benefits too, she became more obvious to the boys of the school, and considering her boyfriend had dumped her the week before, she was not objecting. Nothing had really changed except for my feelings for Riley. I knew i loved him, it was such a confusing time for me, i had not loved a man since 1869, when dear Fredrick was courting me. The blood lust was still hanging over me, but i found a dull tone to it, enough to drown it out with the threatening thought that i could not feed from him, i could not hurt him. This fear was crippling, and knowing that Riley wanted more was frightening doubled with exciting. I practiced great restraint, always telling him i wasn't ready, but there was only so many times i could say it before he started to worry. Friday nights were our nights, we would have movie nights that would turn into make out sessions on the couch. I always pulled away just as things went from warm to hot, and this time would be no different, except it was. "Can you stop trying to protect me, i know what you are and it doesn't scare me a bit okay. i know to you i may be some fragile human, but wont hurt me. You want this as much as i do, please Anna, don't make this anymore difficult than it has to be." I was shocked into silence, how could he know what i was, he was human.

"What did you say?"

"Anna, i know your a vampire okay, everyone at this school does. Half of the student body are vampires, for Christ sake. Ms Jane told us that we were expecting you and not to give you any inclination that we know what you are, she said something about you needing to figure out who you were on your own, but i cant watch you suffer like this. Babe you were brought here, not because of your, lets call it excessive hunting, but because there is someone after you. Can't you see, don't you remember, every sight where you left a body, someone was watching you. The night that Elizabeth brought you here, the person was going to finally strike." Again shocked into silence

"This cant be true, it just cant be, and i mean even if it is, why would you know about this Riley, your gloriously human." His next response was too shocking, and yet so clarifying.

"The humans at this institute, other than the donors of course, are somewhat of alchemists. We learn about the history that has surrounded vampires and when we graduate, we shall work with the government to keep the vampires out of the headlines."

"You knew all this time about me, what i am, who i am?"

"Anna, it doesn't matter what you are, because your personality is amazing, and i am the luckiest guy in the world." All arguments that were forming in my head were drowned out by his abruptant kiss. As the kiss deepened, all worries left my body and knowing that Riley knew who i was, that i wasn't a monster as much as i conceived myself to be, i was able to give him me, all of me.

We lay, me on my stomach, him on his side running his fingers down my back. He trailed kisses up my spine till he came to my neck. Riley stopped just shy of the raised teeth marks of where i had been bitten. "How did it happen?" My face must of darkened, because he added "you don't have to tell me." Could i go back there? could i tell him?

"It was my sixteenth birthday, we had celebrated with a massive ball, gowns and all. My mother was quite wealthy, and after my father left, they tried to take it all but my mother fought them to the end. I had returned to my bedroom after the party and went about my normal routine. It was quite a humid night so after brushing my hair i sat outside on my balcony in my lounge chair. After a while of an unsettling feeling i felt someone watching me. By the time i started to head toward my door I was too late. My maker let me go and then pulled me back again, until they finally bit my neck. The pain was excruciating. The burning of the transformation was too much, i was screaming without realising i was. Once i came to and the transformation was complete, i realised that my mother was there. I couldn't stop myself, before i knew it i was draining her, and at that point she wasn't my mother, she was prey. Once she was dead i lost it. I sat in the corner of the room for days before rationally deciding to bury her. I packed some clothes and food, of course not knowing that i didn't require the food, and i ran. Ive been running since 1869." I chock on the last bit and alast the tears flew.

"Anna, oh dear god Anna" he pulled me into his arms and just let me cry

"What i don't get though, is there are human donors here, and yet one bite changed me."

"Scientists throughout time have been saying how the mind matters and they are right. To change a human, you have to want to, the brain turns the venom in your teeth from hallucinogenic to deadly."

"So I wasn't changed by chance" I say lightly

"Anna, your so beautiful, please dont let this bother you, you have been through so much, let us have this night together." We stayed embraced for the rest of the night, until curfew neared.

"OMG, you so did it!." Jamie jumps up from her bed

"I honestly dont know what you are on about" I state to Jamie knowing all to well that my smile gives me away

"So how was he, I need details, not even Steph got this.." she stopped herself, knowing all to well that she was about to cross a line. "Did you vampire rock his beautifully handsome body?"

"I love him Jamie." We talked about Riley for the rest of the night, all the more showing how my feelings for him were gettiing stronger by the day.
