The last cardboard box was placed on the kitchen counter since most of the content said box belonged to the kitchen.

It was the second to last week of August when Bonnie and I's families helped us move into our new and custom apartment. The apartment was walking distance from the college and about a 10-15 minute drive to downtown. The establishment itself was simply beautiful.

The two of us decided to keep our jobs in order to pay the rent for the apartment and for the other many necessities we may purchase in the future. Unfortunately, it would take about 20-45 minutes for both of us to get to work, but we worked it out with both of our bosses.

"Boobear! I brought cookies and lemonade for everyone!" Mum announced.

Bonnie and I looked over to find a white plate topped with a mountain of the classic chocolate chip cookies with a glass pitcher of yellow lemonade

Bonnie and I looked over to find a white plate topped with a mountain of the classic chocolate chip cookies with a glass pitcher of yellow lemonade. Bonnie and I looked at one another before the two of us bolted towards the delicious snack.

Lottie and Fizzy joined in as well as Darren (Bonnie's younger brother) for the cookie fest.

It was around eight in the evening when our families needed to leave. My mum had to go back to check up on the twins (both pairs) and Dan while Bonnie's parents had to get Darren ready for his video game tournament.

There were a few tears shredded that night as we hugged each of our loved ones.

It all came down to the one person that would be the hardest to let go: my own mother

It all came down to the one person that would be the hardest to let go: my own mother. It was safe to say that neither of us was looking forward to this day. My mother and I were attached to the hip, practically inseparable.

All good things must come to an end at some point.

Mum told Lottie and Fizzy to wait in the car before looking over to me then to Bonnie. She hugged Bonnie first, telling her that she was very proud of her and that she always saw her as one of her own daughters.

As much as Bonnie was trying to hold it in, a few tears were streaming down her face.

Mum looked over at me, her appearance made my own heart cry out. The woman slowly walked over to where I was standing, a sad smile stretching across her face before she spoke.

"You have no idea how proud I am of you," she said in a croaky voice.

I leaped into her arms and hugged her like there was no tomorrow. It wasn't long until I tasted the familiar tears streaming down my face. I didn't want her to leave, in fact, I even offered for her to live with us while we were in college.

But then I thought about the girls and Ernest, about Dan and everyone back home. It would be unfair to them.

The two of us pulled away from one another, soaked in each other's tears.

"Just know that if you need anything, I don't care how awkward or stupid or silly the topic or question may be, I'm one phone call away."

I gave a watery smile as more tears poured from both of my eyes. My mum smiled before she moved her fingers across my torso, laughter erupting from me and from Bonnie.

"C'mon now love, no sad faces! Where's my happy boy?"

The giggles were endless until my mother decided to let me breathe

The giggles were endless until my mother decided to let me breathe. The woman gave Bonnie and me one more hug before she walked out of the apartment.
