Year; 2015 modern era
You turn around looking for Jake.
He is standing right there.
"Here come with me I drove my car here. We can follow the ambulance."
He takes your hand and leads you over to his truck.
This wasn't the first time you had been in his truck.
You hop in the passenger seat as he puts the key in the ignition.
The car starts and he puts his arm up on the seat well he looks behind him to make sure he doesn't drive over anybody. The two of you exit the parking lot and can still see the ambulance up ahead. The hospital Isn't to far away.
"So tell me what really happened."
He asks keeping his eyes on the road.
You think about it.
"Okay. Here goes. We were walking to Bills when we got to that one part where you have to pass through the really busy part, right? And so all of a sudden Erin yells 'Now!' Or something like that and we all run. We get to the other side when Gracie notices her drawing journal which was in her hands is now in the middle of the road. I knowing that's basically her college degree run into the middle of the street to grab it for her. I ran back and gave Gracie her notebook back when Erin fainted."
It all comes out in one big breath.
He looks over at you.
He knows you all to well.
"No, what really happened.?"
He asks again well your pulling into the parking lot of the hospital.
"Oh look at that, we're here. Better get out and go check on Erin."
You look over at the door and reach for the door handle.
But Jake grabs your head gently and twists it back towards him.
"Please?"
He releases your head.
"Okay. I promise I will tell you but, just not right now."
He seems reluctant at first but finally obliges.
You hop out of the truck with him following close behind you.
You open the doors and see Gracie and Grace Lee waiting by the front desk.
"They already have her going in to get her awake so we can't do anything now but wait."
Grace Lee informs you.
You look at her and Gracie and back up to Jake.
"I'm going to go to the bathroom, Grace Lee and Gracie will you come with me?"
You ask.
Jake sits down obviously waiting for you to tell him what happened.
"Ya sure."
Gracie responds for both her and Grace Lee.
You stand up and walk to the bathroom with them on your trail.
But you pass the bathroom and exit outside through a door to the back parking lot.
"We need to talk."
You finally say.
"Ya. "
Grace Lee agrees.
"What happened?"
Gracie asks you.
Your think about it.
You remember seeing Gracie's notebook in the middle of the street and knowing that was her college entry you ran after it. You bent down to pick it up and when you looked up there was a semi truck. To close to brake.
It would have killed you.  You threw her notebook in a attempt to save it but you knew you wouldn't be able to make it. You don't really know why you put up your right hand, but you did.  And then everything stopped.
"(Y/n)? You still with us?"
Gracie snaps you back into reality.
"Um, well I guess I stopped all the cars. With my hand. My right hand."
That's all you can say before Jake comes bursting out of the door.
"You guys are obviously not in the bathroom, but the lady at the front desk needs you"
He holds open the door.
The four of you walk back in to the hospital smell.
Medicines, bandaids, and the 'clean' smell.
Gracie is the first to get to the front desk. Then Grace Lee. Then you and Jake.
"We need to get her parents phone number or one of you need to call them."
The lady talks with a little wheeze.
You think she probably smoked.
But look at her now, a nurse.
You pull your phone out of your back pocket and pull up Julie, Erins moms number.
Gracie and Grace Lee see what your doing an pull their phones out too.
One of them pulls up Julie's number and the other Lincoln, Erins stepdad.
They give the lady both phone numbers to put in her computer.
"Hello? (Y/n)?"
Julie answered.
"Oh um Hi Julie,"
You choke out.
You don't want to tell her that Erin has fainted, and now your at the hospital.
"Um. The four of us are at the hospital right now,"
You start.
"What? What? What happened?is everyone alright?!"
She starts to get a little more nervous.
"Well, it's not super bad but we were on our way to Bills and, well, Erin fainted."
You talk a little slowly, afraid that Julie might freak out.
"Um I'm going to give you to Lincoln..."
She cuts off for a second.
"(Y/n) it's Lincoln. Erin fainted?"
Lincoln asks you.
"Yes. She is in a room with a doctor or something right now and we don't know if she's awake yet or not."
You tell him.
"We are on our way there right now. Only a couple blocks away."
He hangs up.
You put your phone in your pocket again and look up to see no Gracie or Grace Lee.
They have gone and sat down.
You go walk over and sit down next to them.
"Julie and Lincoln are only a few blocks away."
You tell.
"Okay. Good."
Grace Lee says staring off into space.
Gracie talks a little sad,
"You know through all that. I don't even think I grabbed my drawing journal of the grass out there."
She laughs at the end.
You look at her with a smile.
"Why are you smiling?"
She asks confused but still sort of laughing.
Grace Lee chimes in,
"Ya, why are you smiling?"
She's laughing now too.
You reach behind you to grab your backpack when you realize it's not there.
"Wait."
You tell the two of them.
"You left it at Bills, when you were sitting with Erin."
Now Jakes talking.
"It would still be on the table, but, I'm such a good friend that I grabbed it for you."
He holds up your bag.
You smile.
"Geez (y/n) you can't even remember your own bag!"
Gracie jokes.
You take you backpack from Jake.
"Thank you Jake."
You laugh a bit.
Opening up your bag you grab Gracie's notebook and pull it out.
"Oh, so that's why you were smiling."
Grace Lee smiles.
"Wait I can't see! What is it!"
Gracie exclaims well trying to see whats in your hands.
You hand the notebook to her.
She smiles.
Then sets it on her chair and stands up to hug you.
Gracie is a lot shorter then you so you kind of hug her shoulders.
"Where's my daughter?!"
Lincoln and Julie bust open the doors.
Lincoln storms up to the front desk with Julie cowering behind him.
Both look worried.
"Sir what is your name?"
The front desk lady asks.
"Lincoln, Lincoln Corneil."
He says with his voice now changed from mad to worried.
"Your daughter, Erin, woke up a few minutes ago and our doctors just finished running some tests on her. She is in room 103 on the second floor."
The lady doesn't even look from her computer screen. Nothing. Just a blank stare at the computer.
"Okay thanks. "
Lincoln walks over to the four of you.
"She's upstairs, let's go"
He walks toward the elevator.
