It was another typical day, the sun hitting only half of my face through the window which was just enough to make me uncomfortable but after many years of living hear I have never got use to the Mojave sun, its just so hot and unrelenting and still purges into the night.
The clock in the room went off signalling that it was time to open up, I mean I would have it open all the time but we just don't have the man power or the resources to do so. After five minutes of procrastination I got off my lazy ass and started to help dealing with all the patients.
Around a thirty minute time period had passed, he had a few bullet wounds. Im no professional but I think im doing a decent job so far the only thing that could possibly mess me up now is the beautiful young lady waiting in line, her red locks a beautiful crimson red colour and the attractive freckles that she has just under her eyes and what really surprises me is her almost unnatural pale skin. I hastily finished stitching up the old man and eagerly calling next leaving no time to waste. Just in case she couldn't get even more attractive the slight wind blew her hair just enough to make her blush a little.
"Hello, what can I help you with today?" I ask maybe a little too eagerly
"Well it's sort of embarrassing but I think I have radiation poisoning" she replied quietly
"I couldn't tell at all" I reply flirting with her
She laughs and says "Why thank you doctor, I didn't know all of them could be so suave"
"I am the lucky few" smiling brightly as I talk to her
I motion her towards one of the beds in the rooms, while she does that I start to prepare everything I need to cure the sickness. Obviously stalling so I could take quick glances of her, she was like an angel lying perfectly still on the medical bed. I wheel all the supplies over to her, beginning to insert the rad-away into her arm.
"I never did catch your name by the way" asking curiously
"Well now my name is sort of strange you see" she says bashfully
"Oh come on now it can't be that bad can it" I say trying to convince her
"Okay okay you win, my name is Autumn"
"That's a nice name, were you called that because of your hair?"
"No no I was apparently named after something called a season" sounding a bit confused herself
That conversation sparked our long journeys together but I didn't know it yet.
