There's only 5 minutes left until lunch.
I can manage. I think as turn my attention away from the clock.
After a while of taking notes the teacher started explaining a subject that I couldn't care any less about.
I tap my pencil on the desk and glance at the clock again.
There's still 5 minutes left.
I sigh and try to pay attention to the teacher as he drags on the subject.
I keep tapping my pencil until some guy a row next to me glares in my direction.
Three minutes.
"Okay class-" the teacher, Mr. Brady, sighs, "you may start packing up, have a great day." He finishes without a smile.
I put all my supplies up and sling my bookbag over my shoulder, standing up.
"Okay bye, Cass," I say giving her a smile and a small wave.
"Bye Maddie, have a good rest of the day," she beams.
I enter the buzzing hallway and walk through groups of people to find Michael. It was lunch time after the third period of the day.
His fading green hair above the crowd of people stood out and I walked In that direction.
I walk in the opposite direction of the lunch room to meet up with Michael, occasionally bumping into people.
As I get closer I can see he's talking to someone. I assume it's Luke since I can see his quiff over the crowd of people too.
Michael soon spots me and waves his hands in the air to wave me over there.
"I could already see you idiot," I say as I approach them, turning and walking next to them.
"Do you mind if Luke sits with us today?" Michael asks, ignoring my snarky remark.
"That's fine," I nod crossing my arms and picking up my pace to get through a large clump of people.
Luke follows with Michael just behind as we all end up back in the line we were in earlier.
The buzzing of voices got louder as we got closer to the lunchroom and went through the wide entrance.
"Can we eat outside?" Michael begged with pleading eyes, glancing between the both of us.
"If it makes you happy," I shrug and Luke shrugs in response.
"Yay!" Michael exclaimed, clapping his hands together several times.
"Please act like a normal human being, we're in public," I say patting Michael on the shoulder.
"Do you see what I have to put up with," Michael says pointing at me and looking at Luke, who was behind me in the lunch line.
Luke just chuckled in response and shoved his hands into the pockets of his tight, black skinny jeans.
"Thank you Luke," Michael and I say at the same time.
"I'm pretty sure he chuckled because you were being ridiculous," I defend.
"I'm pretty sure he chuckled because he was agreeing and was thinking about how annoying you are," Michael said crossing his arms and trying to look intimidating.
