Chapter 10
His eyebrows knit together as his the blush on his face disappeared. He became pale as I saw anger appear in his eyes. I could feel my heart beating faster against my chest while breath stuck in my throat. I felt cold air getting into my eyes as I was almost scared to blink. I pressed my lips firmly on each other as my dad took a step, still meters away from us. “(YN),” He growled as he looked straight into my eyes. I wrapped my hand around one of Harry’s fingers. “Dad…” I whispered as I took a deep breath. I stood up and pulled Harry with me. My father walked up to us, but tried to keep distance as he scanned Harry’s tall figure with a disgusted expression on his face. “I want to introduce you someone.” I said, trying to stay calm. This was important, if I ruined this right now, it would never be okay. “Hello, sir.” Harry said politely. My dad crossed his arms in front of his chest as he still looked at Harry. In the corner of my eye I saw Harry becoming nervous. His nostrils were slightly widen as I saw him swallow a few times. “What is this thing doing here in my house?” My father hissed. Harry looked down at his feet, I knew those words hurt him. All those bad words people every said about or to him, made him feel hurt. Anger boiled up inside of me, how could he call a person a ‘thing’? How could he say that about Harry when he stood right in front of him? “I told you to stay away from him.” My dad continued. “We have to talk.” I said, hoping he’d listen to me, but he shook his head. “Sit down.” I hissed, a hint of warning in my voice as I pointed to the leather chair opposite the couch, but he wouldn’t listen.
“I told you not to be anywhere around him, and now you have taken him to our house like he’s a normal guest? No thank you.” My dad said, slightly annoyed. More anger and frustration grew inside of me as I let go off Harry’s hand, being afraid I might hurt him. My hands became fists as felt my knuckles getting white. All my nerves faded as I said, “Sit down.” I was bloody serious as I took a step forward, a step closer to my dad. Again I pointed to the chair as gave him an angry glance. My dad raised his eyebrows as he uncrossed his arms. He rolled his eyes and huffed as he took the seat.
He cut his eyes at Harry again as I slowly walked backwards, finally feeling the couch against my calves. I plopped on the couch as Harry still stood in the middle of the living room. I gestured him to come sit next to me. With nervous steps he walked up to me and sat beside me. He lay his hand on my knee, I could feel the warmth through my sweatpants as I looked up to my dad, he looked disgusted by seeing Harry touching me.
“Dad,” I began, “I know you don’t like him and I know you don’t want me to be around him, but I want you to give him a chance.” I said, full of confident. I didn’t want to show my father I was actually really nervous and afraid of how he’d react. My dad huffed again as he leaned forward, his elbows resting on his upper legs as his fingers were locked with each other. He looked away from us. “Oh, and why would I do that?” He snapped. “He isn’t the guy people think he is.” I said, a part of my words were true and a part of my words weren’t.
Harry was a called a ‘bad boy’, because he get into a lot of fights, but mostly he did that to protect the people he loved. Except that fight with Matt. People thought he was a bad boy because he looked bad, always dark clothes and he could look at you like he’d kill you. But from the inside, he was the sweetest boy I’ve ever met, he really cared about me and I knew him, I knew he wasn’t as bad as people thought he was. People always told their friends and family they had to stay away from Harry Styles, but they never gave a reason, well, they only said “He’s bad.” But there wasn’t a reason. Only because he fought sometimes, people made up he was a monster.
Harry’s parents got divorced when he was very young and since then he lived together with his older sister I never met and his mom, but he grew up at the wrong side of the city in a small house. In his neighborhood were a lot of fights and people who were addicted to drugs and booze. It was really unsafe there and that’s the reason why we always hang out at my place or around school, he didn’t want me to go there, he thought it was too dangerous for me. When we was around 14 years old, he got more and more protective over his sister and mother, because there were dangerous men and boys in his neighborhood, and once a man did something to his sister. That’s why he never wanted to let me talk to another boy, and why he didn’t want me to go to the café to meet Austin.
“Dad, Harry is the sweetest boy I’ve ever met…” I whispered as I lay my hand on Harry’s. He looked up and gave me a small smile. “He isn’t (YN).” My dad growled as he looked back at us. “Now give me at least one, good reason why I should give him,” He nodded his head to the boy next to me, “A chance.” I bit my lip, there were enough reasons why he should give him a chance. But I knew that it didn’t matter what I told my dad, he’d still refuse. He won’t let me date Harry, unless I could figure out what the best reason was to tell him, and then hope he’d give in.
I parted my lips to say something, but Harry was earlier. “Because I love her.” He said without hesitation. I turned my head to him as my jaw dropped a little bit, I never expected him to say that, not now, not in front of my dad. My dad looked straight into Harry’s eyes, I saw he was furious by Harry’s words, but he stayed silence as Harry continued. “I really love your daughter, with my whole heart. I care about her and she’s the most amazing girl I’ve ever met. I understand if you don’t want me to be around her, but she has the best influence on me nobody ever had,” While he spoke, I lay my other hand under his, so his warm hand was between mind as I rubbed the back of his hand with my thumb. A smile spread across my face. “Since our first conversation, I knew (YN) was a really sweet, kind and caring girl and I’m so happy I met her. I really love her, sir.” He said in a low, raspy voice as my father couldn’t help but smile a little.
“She’s a tough and stubborn girl, just like me.” My dad finally said before he chuckled. “I know, she really is.” Harry said with a smirk on his face as he wrapped his arm around me, looking into my eyes. He turned back to my dad and said, “She’s really special to me, and I love her very much, not the way young teenagers ‘love’ each other, but… I love her in every way.” My dad his smile grew bigger.
I could tell my dad started to like Harry, he really listened to him instead of cut him off.
Harry and my dad talked for a long time and finally, my dad gave Harry permission to date his daughter, on a few conditions, he shouldn’t keep my out till late at night, doesn’t distract me from schoolwork, doesn’t sneak around with me, and he had to stop getting into fights, only when it was necessary to protect me. My dad really wanted him to protect me, because I was still his ‘little girl’. I knew it was hard for my dad to let me go, but he understood. And of course, Harry agreed with the conditions, he said he’d protect me with his life. “She’s my everything.” He said.
“Okay, you two, get out of here!” My dad said after a long while with a grin on his face. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed his cheek before whispering, “Thank you so much daddy.” My dad hugged me back and kissed my forehead. “Have fun together.” He said before nodding his head to Harry who was patiently waiting at the door with a smirk on his face. I giggled before walking towards Harry. “Don’t keep her out too late, Styles!” My dad said with a chuckle. “That won’t happen, sir.” Harry said as he protectively put his arm around my waist. “Okay,” My dad said, “Have fun.” I gave him a small nod to thank him as Harry politely said, “Thank you very much, I’ll bring her home on time.”
Harry entwined our fingers as we walked through the park near my house. It was already dark, but I felt safe when I was with Harry, because I knew he’d protect me from everything. I swung our hands forward and back as I hummed a song. I heard him chuckle as he suddenly stopped, cupping my cheeks in his warm hands.
“I’m so proud of you babe, you were so brave…” I could feel his warm breath washing over my face. I lay my hand on his wrist and rubbed the back of his hand with my thumb. “So were you… I didn’t expect you’d say those words to my dad.” I whispered. “I meant it, I meant everything I said. I love you with my whole heart and you’re the most special person in my life.” I blushed by his words. “I love you too.” I whispered. “I love you so much more, you don’t even know…” He whispered.
I wrapped my arms around his neck as his hands were on my waist. I pulled him close when I finally felt his warm lips on mine. I knew we belong to be together, just like I wanted.
The kiss was perfect, just like Harry.
