Chapter 2

~ YOUR POV ~

A exhausted sigh escaped my throat as the noise of my alarm woke me up. I opened my eyes and reached out for the small, black device to press the button. The noise stopped and I closed my eyes for a second. Monday, it was Monday again. I opened my eyes by the thought of seeing Harry again, would he talk to me? Would he come up to me in school? Would he ignore me? Honestly, I wanted the last thing, and if he wouldn’t ignore me, I would.

I shove my hand under my pillow to grab my phone, seeing I had one text, it was from Austin. He wrote he was sick and wouldn’t be able to come to school today. I sighed again, letting my phone fall on the duvet which was covering my body. I sat up and threw the duvet off my body, the cold air greeting my bare feet. My feet touched the soft carpet as I let myself slide out of my warm bed. I opened my closet and took a simple denim jeans and a t-shirt. I went to the bathroom, seeing myself in the mirror. My hair was messy and my eyes looked exhausted without makeup. I turned my head to see a red mark on the skin of my neck. I knit my eyebrows together as I let my index finger slid over it, where did that came from?

“Good morning sweetheart, did you take a shower?” My dad asked as I walked into the kitchen. “Yes,” I answered. I made breakfast for myself and poured hot tea in a mug as my dad walked out of the kitchen. Quick I threw the tea sachet in the sink and followed my father to the other room, seeing him sitting on a chair, eating some yoghurt while he watched the news. “Do you have a boyfriend, (YN)?” My dad asked out of sudden as he pointed to my neck. My eyes widen as I remembered the red mark in my neck. Quick I lay my finger on it, “No, it must be an allergic reaction or something,” I mumbled. “Don’t you have to work today?” I asked after a few minutes of silence as I stuffed my breakfast in my mouth, chewing on the food. He shook his head while taking a sip of his tea, “No, I wanted to stay home for today.” He said. “Why?” I asked before he shrugged his shoulders. “Don’t feel that well,” He said as he stood up, walking up to the couch where my bag lay on. “Come on, (YN), you have to go to school.” I stood up and caught my bag my dad threw at me. “Well, take some rest then,” I said before kissing his cheek.

I yanked my earphones out of my ear as the bus stopped in front of the school building. I stood up and pulled the strap over my shoulder as my feet touched the pavement while I already saw students walking into the school. The bus drove away as I slowly made my way to the entrance of the school. Today would be boring without Austin, my best friends since I joined this school.

Three years ago my mother passed away. She fought against cancer for four years, but finally she lost, so since that moment my dad took care of me. At that moment I lived in Birmingham, only an hour away from my current hometown, Holmes Chapel. My father couldn’t pay tax anymore because only two months after my mom’s death he got fired. We stayed in Birmingham for six more months until my dad could get a good job in another city, Winsford, but we found a nice house in Holmes Chapel, a small village near Winsford, so now we live there. And now, since three years I went to a new school. I’ve always been a little bit shy to meet new people, but fortunately the first day there was a boy who was very nice to me and stayed with me the whole day, not letting me alone, and in a short while, Austin became my best friend. Unfortunately he never met my mother, the most important woman in my life. Sometime I still felt sad because she wasn’t there anymore, but even though Austin has never known here, he was there for me when I needed a shoulder to cry on. Austin was always very protective over me, like a big brother and I couldn’t live without him.
