Being a part of the body of Christ cannot be proved by miraculous gifts, neither by a position held in the church, neither by signs and wonders that some people can perform, but only through evidence of the fruits of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 7:15-23). The Savior attracted our attention to the false prophets that will infiltrate the church and will lead many believers who are not spiritually mature into error. The apostle Paul, addressing the elders in Ephesus, reminded them of the same thing, saying, 29I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. 30Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. (Acts 20:29-30; 2 Peter 2:1,2). Is it really possible for somebody to speak in tongues unknown to them, to be able to do signs and wonders, without being inspired by the Holy Spirit? Through what type of spiritual source do these manifestations come? The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons (1 Timothy 4:1; Matthew 24:24). If God exists, and if ministering angels exist, surrounded by a universal harmony that fulfills the divine goal, the Bible tells us that there are also fallen angels who are in Lucifer‘s army, having become his workers (Revelation 12:7-12). These demonic spirits have the power to do similar miracles, with signs and wonders, as those that God performs (2 Thessalonians 2:17). Even in Moses‘ time, the sorcerers in Pharaoh‘s house performed the same miracles as God performed through His servant (Exodus 7:20-22; 8:5-8, etc.). In Deuteronomy 18:10-12, among the other things that are prohibited, it is written, 10Let no one be found among you … who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. 12Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord.

Calling on the spirits of the dead, as well communicating with demonic spirits is practiced in occultism, which is spread throughout the earth‘s communities. It is so important to know the plans of the Tempter who falsifies the things of God, hindering people from redeeming their souls. If Satan masquerades as an angel of light, then it is no wonder that his workers masquerade as workers of righteousness (2 Corinthians 11:13-15; Galatians 1:8). Fallen angels also speak a spiritual language that is not naturally understood by men; but by invoking these spirits, people receive supernatural abilities, becoming able to speak any type of human language, or even languages that are not understood by anyone. This can be experienced while in a trance, through the intervention of a ―medium‖.

The reader of these lines, if he is a cultivated person, but without a lot of knowledge about the spiritual domain, could remain shocked and believe that such a phenomenon isn‘t possible. If there is an interdiction to communicating with the dead and to invoking demonic spirits in the Scriptures, this proves to us that the phenomenon is a reality and it still exists through those who practice the occult in our modern times. Rudolf Steiner, the founder of the anthroposophist movement, testified publicly that he obtained many of their doctrinal elements through communication with his master who had died a long time before. Our own (Romanian) Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu [Note: Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu, a name chosen in 1857 by Tadeu Hasdeu (February 26, 1838 - August 25, 1907), was a Romanian writer and philologist, who pioneered many branches of Romanian philology and history.], a man of culture, also fell into this spiritual net, speaking with his daughter, Iulia, after her death.

King Saul also appealed to this method that was forbidden by God, calling Samuel from the dead (1 Samuel 28:7-20). The Spirit of the Lord had left Saul because of his disobedience to God. From that moment, an evil spirit of envy and jealousy against David came upon him, which tormented him until his death (1 Corinthians 10:13-14). This is the result of disobedience to God, those who leave Him and allow themselves to be influenced by a spirit of evil and envy, which unsettles their minds and their feelings. Communication with the dead, and calling on the spirits, are still practiced and are wide spread even in communities that have converted to Christianity, but who haven‘t renounced their traditional practice of the occult that they consider necessary, if it is used for man‘s benefit. I knew a missionary from Uganda, Jimmy, who visited the Charismatic groups in Chicago. His preoccupation wasn‘t the preaching of the Gospel, but the healing of bodily illnesses. I was interested in attentively following all the practices that were used during the service, which took place in a Spanish Church that had a Charismatic orientation. In order to create moments of maximum psychological pressure, he firstly presented the successes he‘d had in healing those with incurable diseases. He was saying that his hand is the hand of Christ, his feet are the feet of Christ, his words are the words of Christ, and thus, if he is part of the body of Christ, he can do all the signs and wonders that Christ did. The enthusiasm of the public and the mass psychosis in his daring words reached a climax. The suffering were called to come onto the platform in front of the public which was moving in a wavelike motion in a whirlpool of emotion. The missionary began to pray in an unintelligible tongue, putting his hands on the sick. Many of them testified publicly that they were healed. A testimony that was worthy of note was made by a Baptist man whom I knew personally, and who said that he had been healed of deafness, through the prayer of this missionary.

What follows completely disillusions us. In a conversation with the missionary I asked him about the occult practices, manifested through white magic (calling on demonic spirits to heal the sick) black magic (causing illness through the actions of demonic spirits) and about other occult manifestations that are practised in Uganda. His reply was surprising. He testified without any hesitation that before he became a Christian, he managed to heal incurable diseases, by calling on the spirits of his deceased relatives. Who could know whether those spirits were his relative‘s spirits or evil spirits disguised as his relatives? The missionary continued to testify that after his conversion to Christianity, he continued to heal by white magic, calling on not only his deceased relatives, but also on the Name of Jesus Christ. He maintained that white magic, even if it is occultism, if it is used for man‘s benefit, cannot be a sin. I saw this with my own eyes and I heard these things first hand. The Devil knows how to deceive immature Christians, by counterfeiting the gifts of the Holy Spirit! If by the spirit, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, Christians can talk to God through prayer and thanksgiving, even in a language unknown by anyone (1 Corinthians 14:2; 13-17, 27,28), the deceiving spirits‘ falsifications can cause people to go astray, without even having been aware of the danger. In conclusion: ―the tongues of angels‖ are a reality which belongs to the spiritual world and represents the means of communication between God‘ ministering angles, and those that have fallen and are working for the Devil. Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8; Matthew 7:21-23; 2 Corinthians 11:14-15).
