Have you ever imagined a life without magic? To see the sunset has lost its beauty in life. Looking into your lover's eyes and realizing there's suddenly nothing there anymore.
To look at your hands and realize that your like everyone else now. That's the world I live in. My name is Ender. I live behind the walls of Algaryon.
And someone took our magic away."Where is Bun-Bun?" I asked the woman in the kitchen. She was my mother. She had such beautiful short tan hair and the most gorgeous set of medium blue eyes. They use to be a lot lighter. "Wha? Bun? Oh, she's out in the vegetable garden, isn't she?" I frown a bit. She was sent to pick the tomatoes that were ready for harvesting. It doesn't take that long to do so. She was asked this about an hour ago! I nodded to my mother and walked out the door. I looked around. We lived in a small village called Algaryon near The Tesseract Realm. The people here were a bit poor and we all were struggling to survive. The Tesseract Realm was a place for magic but, no one dares to step foot on the land now. It's a place surrounded by water and sharp pointy rocks. It's pretty cool actually. Especially at night though. Although I can't get a good look at it, at night when I look threw my window I can see a blue narrow light connecting it to the sky. It was amazing! Rumor also has it that the place may be the home of dragons! I've never seen one before but they must be cool, right? This village also has a curfew. Why? At night bad things happen of course! I don't know what happens since I'm always inside on time.
"Bun-Bun!" I shout out in the fenced backyard full of crops. I walked straight to the place the carrots would be, knowing she'd be there. I was correct too. Bun-Bun sat in the field of carrots eating a carrot. I frowned. Those were for everyone! "Oh, hey!" She waved at me and I sighed at her. Bun-Bun use to be part rabbit before the magic disappeared. She'd take full form sometimes and seek carrots and steal them from the villagers. That's before my mother took her in really.
I snatched the carrot out of her hands and she pouted. "Hey!" She complained but I didn't really listen. "Go get a bath your filthy." I tell her. I decided it's best I just do her job instead. Without another word, she hopped up and ran inside the house. Sighing, I grabbed a basket from beside the house and began picking tomatoes. It's better this way.
I had to hurry. It was going to be dark soon but, I still need to search the woods for berries. My mother was going to make some dessert with them. Grabbing the last tomato, I put it in the basket and ran off towards the house. Just before I touched the handle, a man walked up to me and touched my shoulder. I turned around and stepped back a bit hoping he wasn't going to try and rob me. "I was wondering if you could spare some tomatoes, please? My family has run out of food and we are starving. Please, can you help us?" I stared at the man for a moment. He was pretty boney. Why doesn't he grow crops, has his own animals or hunt? Is he that poor? I debated on the decision. We were poor too but...
"Sure." I said and handed the man seven tomatoes. We can grow more. He smiled at me and thanked me repeatedly. It felt good to help someone. Suddenly, his facal expression changed. He looked frightened and scared. The man quickly ran away which confused me. Then I realized why. I quickly opened the door to the house and ran inside. It was getting dark."Oh, so your not dead yet?" I looked over to see my brother. He was older than me. I called him Red. He looked more like our mother as I our father. He had tan hair and I had white. Red had green eyes and I had blue. Besides these differences, we looked like twins. "Do you want me to be?" I asked frowning at him. Man, he was annoying. Red shrugged and walked away. I knew he cared about me although he hid it. Our relationship is complicated.
I placed the basket of tomatoes on the floor in the kitchen. I told my mother it was too late to get the berries so, there was no dessert. She was disappointed but, atleast we got to eat dinner.
After eating, we all went to bed. I stayed up to look out the window for the light a while. I waited for it.
And waited.Suddenly, a blue bright light shot into the air. I smiled at the scene. It was beautiful. After a while, it stopped. It saddened me. I wanted to get a closer look. I wanted to go where the magic was.
I wanted to go behind the wall of Algaryon.
But I couldn't.
