We all wish to be fearless, but what if being fearless was our downfall? Fear is our unwanted friend who tells us what's right and what's wrong. What to do and what not to do. Some of us fear even being fearful. Why is that? Are we afraid of making the right choice? Of think what would happen if we were to pick the wrong one?
That's the world I will be living in. My name is Ender. I live behind the walls of Algaryon.
And someone took our magic away.My family and our friends all came over to celebrate Bun's birthday. She seemed very happy that the day belonged to her and all who knew us brought many carrot themed dishes for her and all to enjoy. I honestly grown sick of carrots, but the day was not mine. It was hers.
I participated in all small games and things celebrating Bun Bun. The only magical creature in the village. Thinking about it, Bun would be able to return to her rabbit state. She's be able to turn back and forth into a bunny again. I remember we met her as a rabbit. She was stealing carrots from us and somehow my mother ended up adopting her and she became my little sister.
I stared at Bun Bun. Stared at the black rabbit ears coming from her head covered in inky strains done into two long ponytails. I smiled at her. She'd benefit from me destroying the wall. We all would honestly. We need to be exposed to other possibilities and a new world. They'll fear it, but I'll be here to help them through it. I will guide them.
I watched from the steps of the house as Bun Bun played with the local children and parents and childless adults communicated among themselves. My mother was speaking to one of the other children's mother. I sighed. This was the upside of living poor. We all get together. Our hearts are rich. In the corner of my eye I could see Red approaching me, two plates in his hands. He sat beside me and I just stared without a word. Soon enough after a few moments of silence, he cleared his throat and spoke. "Ender... I'm sorry if I bothered you yesterday." I looked at Red in shock. He never apologize. "Bun wanted me to apologize to you." That explains it. "But I needed to anyway. You weren't in the mood and I came to bother you anyway. My bad." He said handing a plate to me. I took it and looked at him. He wasn't looking at me. I laughed a bit. He looked at he frowning. "Wha-What's so funny?" I shook my head. "Nothing. Thanks." His face softened and he nodded. Even though Red and I fight many times, we still have nice moments like now. I really do love my twin.
My mother called my brother over and he left my side. It gave me the opportunity to beckon a child over and offer my plate to them. As I watched him take it and run off happily, I thought over how I was going to go about taking care of the wall. I came to the conclusion that I'd get rid of the magic that repels other magic, but I have no idea how I'd go about it. "Ender!" I heard my mother call for me. I got up and walked towards her.
"It's time to sing for Bun Bun! Ender come join us!" On my way over, I realized this could be my opportunity. "Wait, I just.. give me a second. Go ahead and start without me." I turned around and ran into the forest, ignoring the calls from my mother. I was lucky she didn't decide to run after me.
Making it to the wall, I climbed up and jumped down. The magical world I saw that looked so amazing and mystical, we there thankfully. They all needed to see the world for what it was. "Master Ender!" Spindle shouted for me as she came up out of nowhere and hugged my neck. "Spindle," I looked at her. "How do I stop the wall from repelling magic? I don't have much time." She looked at me then at the wall. "The wall needs to be destroyed. Or, or... You can absorb it's magic!" I looked at her sideways. She chuckled at my expression and grabbed both of my hand and places them on the wall. "You of all people can do it! You can! Just concentrate." She smiled at me. Spindle believed in me. I could see it. Taking a deep breathe I closed my eyes and tried to focus. I imagined myself taking from the wall.
I felt nothing.
"It's not working." I looked at Spindle. "Concentrate. Concentrate."
After a few moments, I felt something strange. Like a cool breeze ingulfing my entire being. I felt a bit lighter. This carried on for a while before I heard a loud noise and nothing against my hands. When my eyes opened, I saw I destroyed a part of the wall. The stone blocks had caved in on each other. I froze. Destroying it was not my intention. I immediately began panicking, even more so when I heard people talking and coming closer. They were obviously curious. "Ender! Ender~! Are you ok?!" I could her my mother and few over the other villagers calling out for me. My heart was racing.
"Ender! What-" My mother paused mid sentence as she stared at me on the other side of the broken wall. Spindle hid before anyone could see her. Everyone was silent for a moment, then-
"THE WALL! THE WALL HAS BROKEN!"
I hear the screams and shouts of all the panicking villagers. My brother was stunned, shocked. I didn't see Bun anywhere among the crowd. My mother's eyes remained on my face and I couldn't help but look ashamed. "THE BOY HAS BROKEN THE WALL!" A man shouts. "EVIL HAS BEEN LET IN!" Another man shouts. I recollect my self and shook my head. "No! Everyone please listen!" I shout. No one paid me any attention.
"Retreat into your homes!!" Someone shouted among the crowd and everyone seemed to rush back to the village. My mother grabbed my wrist along with my brother's and hastily dragged us back home. I tried to be her to atleast listen to me first, but she was fixated on getting us home. "Bun! In the house!" She shouted when she saw her sitting by the door. Bun had a look of shock upon her features, but complied to my mother's wishes and went inside.
Once we we're all home, she stared at me in horror. A look I am not familiar with. "Ender," she began. "What have you done?" I found myself shameful again. The look in her eyes had me feeling small. "I.. I.." I could barely get my words together feeling pressured. "I would of never of thought you could do this to our village. What were you thinking!?" Red yelled at me and grabbed my shirt. Bun pushed him away from me. "No! This is a good thing! Th- thanks to Ender, I have my powers back!" Bun had a serious expression. "Do you really think Ender would do this to terrorize our village! If so, then that's truly disappointing."
Red looked down. Her words had obviously made him feel ashamed of himself for thinking irrationally. My mother walked up to me. "I wouldn't dare to ever think poorly of my children. I'm just very shocked that this has happened. Ender, I only want to know why you've done what you have." Her voice was soft and in a low pitched tone. I could tell by her expression she wasn't angry at me, but a bit hopeful. Hopefully that my reason was good enough and it is. Taking a deep breath, I explained from the beginning all what happened to me.
