I stuck my tongue out of the corner of my mouth, unlocking the door with a slight whimper. My hands were shaking as if I had been shocked by an electrical outlet and still hadn't calmed. I took a breath, looking back at Mikey who was trying to make conversation with Frank who seemed to be uncomprehending anything at the moment.
I finally got the rattling key in the hole, turning it to the left and pushing the white door open. The entrance to our home was a large set of double doors, finished in wood polish causing the dark oak doors to shine in the midday light. Our house was quite large for where my family and I lived. Our parents had bought the house when Mikey was born, being able to settle down in a wealthy part of Belleville, New Jersey. The house was one of the largest on the square, complete with five rooms, two baths, two dens, one large kitchen, a sun room, a basement, attic, and dinning hall.
My father was a lawyer, my mother was a doctor, and putting the two together gave us more money then most that lived in the whole state of Jersey. But living in a house with a man of the law, and a woman of medicine also has it's hardships. It was hard for Mikey and I to fit in around town, it was either we were 'Stuck up' and 'Assholes of the City' or we were the 'Emo Faggots' and 'Aliens of the century'.
I felt the worst for Mikey, knowing that Frank was one of the only people that he had left to be with while he went through the Hell we called school, but now the poor kid had no one. At least I had Ray. Ray was like my older brother. Both of us had been graduated for a year by now, but it still didn't stop us from getting the shit we had to deal with. It took everything that I had to show my face in town, let alone deal with everything we had to now.
Frank's parents were still on the edge of their seats with the whole situation, but now they had no idea how they were suppose to help the boy with his new condition so my mom offered to take him in for some time so that she could work with him and give him the care that he needed. Donna had always been so kind to the Ieros, even though they were on the other side of the financial spectrum. I guessed that's why she did so much for them. That, and Frank was like a son to her. I sighed, turning back to the car to get Frank's bags from the trunk as Mikey lead the young, confused boy through the front door to show him around.
It was sad watching Frank go through this, knowing that it was my fault. All that continued to run through my head was the reminiscing memories of Frank and I when we were younger and still as happy as ever. As I made my way into the house, I took a breath, closing my eyes and letting out a small whimper. I didn't want to see Frank, so I just looked to the ground and climbed the large double staircase towards the new occupied room with a frown.
