Frank's cheeks stung as the cold air embraced him. His eyes were blood-shot and too dry to blink. He hadn't slept in over three days, not since he and Gerard had gotten into their fight. They had never in a larger dispute and the words spat by Gerard echoed through the small boy's head, bringing wet, heavy tears to his eyes. He had never been more hurt in his life.
Gerard had spoken with a vicious, serpent-like tongue, and it worried Frank to no end that the words he shot could really be true. "You're absolutely nothing to me Iero. If I could, I'd fucking take back everything we ever did, spoke, or laughed about together. Frank Mother-Fucking Iero, I wish you never would have come into my life!"
The words covered Frank with pure misery and pain that coursed through his veins. He knew everything he was about to do would just about kill him, but he was willing to risk his life to get Gerard back and that was just what he was going to do. He always felt something stronger between them, they were best friends, but Frank felt much stronger, and now feared that all of that had been devoured just like the violent words of hatred that Gerard had thrown at him.
He took a deep breath, eyeing the dark, running water far bellow him as he leaned forward over the railing a bit with a sigh. He didn't understand how he was ever going to make it without Gerard in his life. He just, he just wanted an escape. Something that would wipe away anything the two shared giving Gerard a fresh clean slate. He felt tears weld up in his eyes, his breath catching in his throat as he let his head fall forward causing the water to run faster. He bit his lip, shaking viciously as he pulled out his phone. He let a tear fall from his eye, watching it as it fell further and further away, soon disappearing from sight into the everlasting escape bellow.
He didn't understand what exactly drove them this far, what brought them to this, but he didn't bothering trying to find out. Frank was in denial of himself and his relationship with Gerard. He didn't want to believe anything that could have had an effect on what was happening between them. He felt the tears continue to fall past his lids as he shook his head and tried to push the feeling away. He hated this, he hated watching their life together pass by like this.
It started with a compliment to a shirt back in the seventh grade. Frank was sitting at his desk, listening to the mocking comments and the laughter coming from the back of the classroom that was being directed at him when he noticed a glance coming from the front of the class. It was coming from the older boy who had been teaching the class. It was part of his extra credit for his English class. Gerard's eyes were the same hazel color that Frank's were, they were never able to decide whether they wanted to be green or brown and it hypnotized Frank himself.
He was awarded a smile and a roll of Gerard's eyes as he shook his head as if to reassure him that everything was going to be okay. The older boy was in eleventh grade at the time, the same grade Frank himself was in now. All the nights that they had spent together, meeting Gerard's younger brother who was in his History class and never liked to talk to anyone. Gerard had truly been his best friend and had been for years.
But as time went on, the older male began to tear himself away from Frank - more and more leading towards the life of his father. He began doing drugs and drinking constantly, ignoring Frank's calls and blowing him and their plans off. Frank's pain came from the abandonment that he was awarded because of his enormous amount of values that Gerard didn't seem to have. That's what killed him the most. He loved Gerard - with everything he had and that's why he was pushing himself into what he was. He felt as though if Gerard was gone, than the rest of his life should have been too. It was just too hard to watch things go on without the one thing that saved him that one day in the class room.
Frank bit his lip as he looked over the rail of the bridge crossing the river, He closed his eyes, hugging his jacket close to his torso as he wiped away more falling tears. He decided that, the only way for Gerard to forgive him, was to give him exactly what he wanted. The thought of Gerard, happy and better, made him smile a bit as he took out his phone from his pocket. Maybe he was crazy, or maybe he was just desperate. Either way, he knew that he was ending both he and Gerard's pain once and for all. Frank hit the number two on his dial pad and held the phone up to his ear as he waited for an answer from the person that he wanted to say 'Goodbye' to the most. His best friend.
