The maids all walked out with different dishes in their hands. Connie, the oldest of them all, stood in front of me with a smile. She was the best damned cook this palace had and I was very appreciative of her and her family working for us. My parents, on the other hand, was getting tired of her because she was becoming slower and clumsier with age. She was 62 and still pushing it to me.
"Here you go, sunny. Spaghetti with your meatballs on the side. I added some extra cheese for you too, your highness." She placed the food in front of me with a smile. I nodded at her. "Thank you, Con. I really truly appreciate this." She just nodded to me and walked back into the kitchen. When she left, another young woman walked in. I hadn't seen her around before so she must be new.
Father cleared his throat and motioned for her to hand what she was carrying to me. She was a bit shaky but she got my wine to me nonetheless. I don't know what it was about this woman but everything intrigued me. Her hair was wild and curly, it looked like a lion's mane but blue. She had skin like one of a chocolate bar, milky and smooth. Her body, oh her beautiful body, had curves in all the right places and never seemed to end. Finally, when she turned around, that's what really blew my mind.
My throat got dry and I quickly reached for my glass of wine but ended up spilling it all over the white tablecloths. The entire table gasped and watched me fumble with the glass to get it back up. The woman turned back around to face me and frowned. "I'm so sorry, my king, I didn't-"
Father glared at her. "This is your first day and you're already making a mess of my palace. Clean it up!" He yelled at her, which made her hurry to my side and gather up the glass. "I'm sorry..I'm sorry.." She kept mumbling silently and wiped off my hand with the napkin that she had in her pocket.
I chuckled and watched her in amusement. "It's quite alright, beautiful. It wasn't your fault." She stopped rubbing my hand with the napkin and looked at me briefly. Her eyes were a pretty golden brown color. "I-I still should have checked to make sure everything was okay before I-"
"Baby, it's okay." I licked my lips and took my hand back slowly. "We all make mistakes." Everybody at the table looked at me as if I were a ghost. Especially the ladies. Lady Elizabeth gasped and whispered something in her sister's ear. Her sister nodded and stood up. "Justinan, Elizabeth and I feel as if you shouldn't have to choose between the two of us so I'm going to allow her to marry you since she's older. I hope that you will accept her as your wife."
My father looked highly pleased and nodded his head. "Of course he accepts Elizabeth. He has no choice."
The woman tapped on my shoulder and I instantly turned my attention back to her. "What else would you like to drink, your highness? I suppose that you don't want any wine after what just happened to your hand and the table." I grinned. "I want water, thank you...?" I motioned with my hands to where a name tag would normally be.
"Oh, my name is Chanel. I'm Connie's granddaughter."
