My eyes opened quickly when I heard the rattling of the cans, I immediately jumped up on my feet and pointed my gun where the noise came from. But I saw something crazy, it was not an animal, it wasn't a walker, it wasn't the wind, it was.......a surviver.

I blinked my eyes a few times trying to understand what I was seeing, is it really a human?

Their stood a woman, in her twenties. Looking at me. A long sword in her hand which was the height of the ground to her waist, it had a red handle, it was a samurai sword. She had dark beautiful brown skin, I could see she was tired because she had sweat all over her face, she looked really hungry.

I wanted to say something but I haven't talked to anyone in over two years, well I have but not a proper conversation. The only thing I could do was reach down into my bag, she thought I was going to pull out a gun so she pointed her sword at me, I stopped but then continued. I tried to feel around for a plastic bottle containing cold water that I got from the river two days before.

She started to get curious on what I was doing but finally my hand found the cylinder shaped bottle. I made sure it had water in it and then I lifted it up, I held it out infront of me, not saying anything. I looked from the bottle to her and back to the bottle, I then threw it to her. She was shocked by my sudden movement but she caught it. I urged her to drink it so she undone the cap and drank the remaining water. She looked completely refreshed.

She swallowed and then spoke, "are you on your own?" I didn't reply verbally, I just kept my mouth shut and nodded 'yes'. She squinted "what age are you?" Gosh she really wants me to talk doesn't she "fourteen" I slipped out and looked at her. "Why are you out here on your own?" All the memories of my old group flooded back to me. "I got separated".

She looked down, "how many walkers have you killed?" I was stunned my her question. I stuttered "em more that a few dozen, a few hordes.....a lot" she nodded "how many people have you killed "three" I clenched my jaw "why?". I looked away "they attacked me".

"I'm not gonna ask you your name, but... Do you want to come back with me, we can see if our leader will let you join?" I can't believe it, me? Why would she ask me? "Do you have a camp?" I asked "someone attacked us for it" so they must be strong "is there a lot of you?", "enough" this could be really bad but I have to accept the offer. It's not every day now that you get offered to be safe with some group. "Really?" She smiled, hope filled me, I haven't seen anyone smile in a long time. She nodded.

This could happen, I could be safe again.
