Epilogue - Starting to recover

Once the moon night was over Gael was forced to start dealing with the accident and what was going to happen. Frankly he would have settled for some check to cover the Bronco, which he had loved, covered his medical, and a bit extra. That wasn't going to happen since the father of this shithead kept screaming how it hadn't been his son's fault. It was Gael's for being out so late and the drivers of the other vehicle for going slow.

Gael had talked to his lawyer, it was the same one for the death of his Aislinn, and after meeting the father he wanted blood. Some of it was his wolf demanding blood, even if it was monetary blood, from the others. The human's pup had fucked up and it was that pup's fault and not theirs. The father needed to accept his pup had screwed up and since they couldn't just kill him this was what they needed to do. Some of it was Gael dealing with imaging Bridget losing her other parent.

After talking to his lawyer he had been forced to turn most of the case over to him. Thankfully the lawyer knew about wolves since he was mated with one. He understood the stresses the other half could cause the human half when trying to deal with the wolf's annoyance. As of now the case with Aislinn was almost completed. Once that was done it would be a closure of a type. He wasn't expecting a huge amount from the damages but chances were good he would get a decent amount. Add that to what he had received from his former pack he would have a decent amount.

Most of that would go to the pack CFO to invest to ensure both Gael and the pack grew. Much of it would go into a fund for Bridget incase anything happened to him before she was grown. Now for that bastards father he was going to rake him over the coals if possible. Even now the insurance company was trying to reach a settlement to keep it quiet. Gael was almost tempted to toss it all into the court of public opinion just to fuck the bastard. If he had been a better father maybe the accident wouldn't have happened. Based on what his lawyer had found there had been several incidents which their money had covered up.

Thankfully for his and Bridget's sake he had been cleared by both the lycan's medical as well as the human's medical to start working even somewhat. It had been three and a half months since the accident and even though Gael had been working at the Masterson's ranch he wanted back to the Lazy J's ranch. He liked it there, Nolan was a good solid sort who Gael could respect and he liked Annabelle. He finally called Annabelle. "I am going to come back to work come hell or high water and frankly everyone can go to hell. If I don't come back I am going to bite something."

Annabelle took the call and snorted at him. "Depending on who you bite I might have to take exception to that. I don't have any urge to have a were-cow or horse. It wouldn't be good if they started looking at their kind as food!" There was a laugh in her voice as she was speaking. "I will have your cabin ready and how soon can you be here?"

Gael almost choked on her joke before forcing a laugh back. "Um, not sure I would want to come across a cow who might consider me good eats either." He sobered. "We can be there tomorrow Ma'am. I need to get back to work and thank you. You took a chance on me and I greatly appreciate it." Even though he wasn't quite as touchy as he had been when he had left his former pack he was still being somewhat distant.

Annabelle wanted to sigh at him but went with it. "Then be here in the morning and my dad will take care of Bridget for you. That way you can get to work and not have to worry. We did clean up the small farrier shed though you will need to take a look at it. Till tomorrow Gael." She hung up and leaned against her mate. That had been most interesting letting the hands know that she was seeing him. She had informed them that she had been seeing him for a while and keeping it quiet since she hadn't wanted to upset the ranch.

Nolan was relaxing in the main room of the house with Annabelle in his lap. He leaned over and gave her neck a kiss before looking at her father and giving him a content look. "It will be good having Gael back to work for you. It has been interesting but I want to get back to my work as an enforcer. Don't coddle him Anna please. Allow him to figure out how much he can do at the moment and give him room to become comfortable again. It is something I have heard that he needs."
