Chapter 8

*Hailey P.O.V* [2 weeks later]
        Today is the day of the gender reveal party. The last week, we have been getting everything together and ready. After getting the balloons in the box, I seal it with some packaging tape before Ashton puts it in the trunk of my car.
"We have to go to a couple stores before going to your mums house," I tell Ashton.
"Okay. I think my mum has some streamers and balloons," Ashton says.
"Can you call her and ask? So I know what we need to buy," I say.
"Okay," Ashton says before calling his mum.
        I go to my room and get ready while Ashton is on the phone with his mum.
*Ashton's P.O.V*
"Hello," my mum says answering the phone.
"Hey mum," I say.
"When are you guys coming over," my mum asks.
"After we go to the store," I say.
"What are you going to the store for," my mum asks.
"Decoration stuff," I say.
"I have two rolls of pink  streamers and a roll of blue. I also have a bag of blue balloons and a bag of pink balloons," my mum says.
"Okay, we will get another roll of pink. Two more rolls of blue and a couple bags of each for balloons. Do you have anything else," I ask.
"No but I was getting ready to go to the store to get food and some other stuff if you guys want me to get anything," my mum says.
"Um, I don't know right now. I will text you if there is," I say.
"Okay bye Ash," my mum says
"Bye mum," I say before hanging up.
"She said she has some streamers and some balloons. I told her we will get some more. She also wanted to know if we want her to get anything," I say.
"Um, I won't know until after we leave the store," Hailey says.
"Okay, I will just have her wait to go to the store until we get there," I say.
"Okay. Sam, Ashton and I are leaving," Hailey says grabbing the last bag.
"Okay. We will be there at two thirty," Sam says and Hailey and I head out to Hailey's car.
        We get in and I text my mum.
Me: Hailey said she won't know if we need you to get anything until after we are done at the store.
Mum: Okay. I will wait until you get here to go then.
*Hailey's P.O.V*
        We head to the store and get what we need before going to my mums house. Once we get to my mums house, we take everything in and start decorating. Ashton and I go in the backyard and start taping balloons to streamers before hanging them up in the door way to the backyard. We then set up three tables across the yard and decorate around them. I get the bow ties and bows and put them in two different bowls next to back door on the table with a sign that says 'wear your guess'. I then set up a table for gifts. After finishing all the decoration stuff, I remember that I need to pick up the cake.
"Do you need to go to the store with me," Ashton's mum asks.
"Yeah. I have to pick up the cake. Other than that and some snack foods, I think we have everything," I say.
"Okay. Ash, watch your brother and sister. Hailey and I are going to the store," Ashton's mum says.
"Okay," Ashton says and Ann-Marie and I leave.
        Ann and I get in her car and go to wal-mart. Once we get to the wal-mart, we go in and get a cart. First we go to the bakery.
"How can I help you," the baker asks.
"We are picking up a cake for Hailey Brown," I say.
"Is this the right cake," the baker asks holding up a cake.
"Yeah," I say and the baker hands it to me.
"Thank you," I say setting the cake in the cart.
"You're welcome," the baker says and Ann and I walk away.
"I also need to get some paint," I say as we are walking through the store.
"Okay," Ann-Marie says and we walk to the paint isle.
        I quickly find the two cans of paint. One of pink and one of baby blue. I set them in the cart and we continue through the store. We were walking through the arts and crafts isle and I got an idea. I grabbed two poster boards and put them in the cart. I then get some pink and baby blue construction paper and put it in the cart as well.
"What are those for," Ann asks.
"I'm going to make an old wives tales poster like this," I say showing her the picture on my phone.
"Oh okay," Ann says.
        After grabbing all the supplies we need, we continue through the store. We walk to the baby isle and Ann grabs a package of diapers and a package of pacifiers.
"Pick out two receiving blankets. One with a girl design and one with a boys design. And then we need a boys hat and a girls hat," Ann says and I get what she tells me and put them in the cart. We then head to the food and get chips and crackers before going to the soft drink isle and got three two liters of soda and three two liters of sparkling waters. We then go to the produce isle and get a bunch of fruits and vegetables before heading to check out. After paying for our stuff, we head back to the house. Once back to the house, it's only two and we still have an hour until the party starts. We take the stuff in and finish setting everything up.
"Lauren, can I use your computer," I ask walking to Laurens open bedroom door.
"Sure," Lauren says and I sit at her computer.
        I google gender reveal old wives tales and print them out.
"Thanks Lauren," I say closing the internet on her computer.
"No problem Hailey. Hey am I going to have a niece or nephew," Lauren asks.
"You will have to wait to find out," I say.
"Dang. I tried," Lauren says.
"You wanna help me," I ask.
"Sure. What are you doing," Lauren asks.
"Meet me in the living room with scissors, tape and a ruler," I say.
"Okay," Lauren says and I go to the living room and get everything out.
        After about two minutes, Lauren comes to the living room with the scissors, tape and ruler. She sets them on the floor and sits next to me. I cut one of the poster boards in half and tape the half's to each side of the poster board. Once that's done, we begin to tape the wives tales on the poster board. Once it's finished, I set it on a table outback and cut out bow and bow ties and put them in two bowls in front of the poster on the table with a roll of tape. After finishing everything, I sit on the couch. After a few minutes, Ashton sits next to me on the couch.
"Babe can you get the box out of the trunk of my car," I ask.
"Yeah," Ashton says kissing me before getting up and going out to the the car.
        I go up to Harry's room.
"Harry can I borrow your chalk board," I ask.
"Yeah. Do you need any chalk," Harry says handing it to me.
"Do you have pink and blue," I ask.
"Yeah," Harry says and hand me the chalk.
"Thanks," I say before going to the backyard.
        I but the chalk board on the table with the poster and put the chalk on the table in front of the chalk board. I write Lyric, Leah, Austin and Jacob. I set the back down and go back in the house and sit on the couch. It's now two forty five, so people should start showing up soon. Ashton comes back in with the box, Sam, Louis, Luke, Millie, Calum, Rayne, Michael, Riley, Harry, Ashlynn, Zayn, Kaitlynn, Niall, Isabella, Liam, Jessica, and Winter. While we are waiting for everyone else to get here, Ann does something with the diapers, receiving blankets, baby hats and pacifiers and makes them look like babies and lay them in a bassinet in the middle of the backyard. Ashton sets the box next to the bassinet in the yard. After about another ten minutes, everyone is finally here. Once everyone has guessed the gender and are wearing the pin of there gender, we begin games.
"We are going to play some games," Ann says handing out some papers she printed off the internet.
"Once you fill these out, you can give them to Hailey," Ashton says.
"When the baby is born and we get all this information, we will contact the person or people that are correct. All though you will figure out the gender today," I say.
        As everyone hands me their papers, I hand them another paper.
"Don't start this one until everyone has one and is ready to start it," I say.
"This one is an old wives tales quiz. You only have to fill out what you know. You may begin," I say once everyone gave me there papers and have the new one.
        Once everyone is finished they give me their papers and I hand them a scratch it card.
"You will find out if these are right or not when we do our two other gender reveals. You will keep it until we actually reveal the gender," I say after everyone has their scratch it cards.
        Everyone scratches their scratch its.
"Wait are these right," Ashlynn asks.
"You will find out soon," Ashton says.
        After the games, we just sat around talking.
"Should we do the paint or the balloons first," I ask Ashton.
"Let's do the paint first," Ashton says and I stand up.
"We are going to do a couple gender reveal things and then we will tell you the name we picked," I say and Ashton and I walk over to the paint.
        Ashton opens the paint and paints his hands and has Sam close the paint, while I pull down my shirt so there are no wrinkles.
"Please take pictures," I say as Ashton walks over to me with his hand facing away from everyone.
        Ashton steps behind me and puts his hands on my stomach. I then put my hand on his. Everyone took pictures.
"Ready," Ashton asks.
"Yeah," I sigh.
"You okay," Ashton asks.
"Yeah. I'm fine. She's just kicking," I whisper.
"I know. I can feel her. I'm removing my hands," Ashton whispers.
"Okay," I say and Ashton and I remove our hand.
        All of our friends and family scream.
"I knew it," my mum says.
"You guys want to see it with the balloons," Ashton asks.
"Yeah," everyone says.
        Ashton and I walk over to the box.
"It's taped. Can you go get a knife," I ask Ashton.
"Yeah," Ashton says before going into the house.
        Ashton comes back out with a knife after washing the paint off his hands. He cuts the tape and I open the box. The pink balloons begin to float out. Everyone began talking amongst themselves again. After about ten minutes, my ex best friend Natalia walks through the door and into the back yard.
