As i lay on the kitchen floor, pain flooding my body in spasms, all i could think of is why did i save that dam dog of all the stupid things I've done in my life this ranked third, right up there next to kissing Chris Benson and skinny dipping in the river in the middle of winter.
Aunt Kay's face swam into view and she was saying something but i couldn't hear her, the pain was to strong i needed to heal and fast my body was dying.
I grabbed Kay's shirt and pointed to the counter where all our plants were, she wordlessly got up and ran over there grabbing the biggest plant she could find, it was a rose bush.
She ran back to me and placed it in front of my stomach i grabbed onto the pot and curled my body around it, taking a deep breath i reached inside my self where my power lay dormant, pushing the pain back, i focused on my power drawing on it and pushing it into my hands, then to the tips of my fingers , finally i broke through the last barrier and pushed it into the rose bush. then using my power i coated the plant with my gift in tell it was completely covering the plant, i reached forward with my power and used my gift like a hose, i sucked the essence out of the rose and pulled it into my self using the roses life force to heal.the pain started to fad and then left me altogether, weak from healing myself, i collapsed back onto the floor, i hadn't realized id sat up.
After a few minutes of silence my aunt pushed the hair away from my face. " Sam that was close you cant keep using your power like that, using your own life essence to heal is vary dangerous Sam, if the injury on that dog was to great , when you tried to heal it, it would've killed you, breathing life back into something is a vary dangerous gift sam and you can only take so much, this is why you need to stop she said. look at that rose bush Sam."i lifted my head up and glanced up at the plant and gasped, it was dead completely dead its flowers had shriveled up turning a dingy brown and fell off onto the kitchen tile, the bark and vines were blackened as if it had been burnt. I reached my hand out to touch the plant my finger tip barely grassing the bark and it crumbled to Ashe. There was no more life left in it, it was dead. i had killed it with my power, Ive never done that before, my powers are growing and it scared me. i sat up slowly my eyes never leaving the the pile of Ashe. aunt Kay seeing the fear in my eyes sighed and leaning over hugged me" its all right Sammy" she said "everything will be all right, you just have to stop and think about things Sam, your powers are growing and if your not careful you could hurt someone or yourself. your still young Sam you have to learn how to control them and in tell you do i don't want you to use them outside of this apartment again, you cant control them what if i hadn't been here to help you Sam what do you think would have happened hmm?" she said brushing my hair from my face and rocking me gently. " i would have died." i whispered. we sat there in silence for a few more minutes until my stomach started to growl, i glanced up at Kay and she looked down at me, my our eyes meeting and we both burst out laughing at the noise coming from my tummy. " and just like that the stress just melted away "you need to eat sweetie and i have a mess to clean up." Kay said getting up to her feet she grabbed the broom from the corner and started to sweep. "its OK ill get it" i said reaching for the broom in her hands. " no" Kay said snatching it from me. "its your birthday remember and whats our rule when it comes to birthdays?" laughing i said " a birthday girl doesn't have chores" i looked at her and smiled. she smiled back, " happy 21st birthday Sammy"
