The bus was packed with staff, students and bags filled with makeup, costumes and hairspray. We were on our way to Carmel High for sectionals. Miss Pillsbury, Mr Shue and Coach Sylvester were at the front of the bus, Sue filing her nails and making rude remarks about students while Miss Pillsbury and Mr Shue went over last minute changes. I sat next to Sam, who was staring out the window and listening to music on his iPod. I played with my hands and thought about everything that had happened these few months. I had dated Finn, dated Sam, kissed Finn while I was still with Sam, and had fights with the both of them. Considering how innocent I am, Sam had really pushed it in my bedroom, and left me without an apology for wanting to go too fast. I thought he knew that I wanted to go slow. I tugged on the cord of Sam's earbuds and he jerked his face suddenly towards me.

"Sorry, I just wanted to talk about what happened at my house-" I began

"Rachel, don't go there, okay? I'm sorry that I was rushing you but we have been together for months and I don't feel like this is going anywhere." He replied in a harsh tone.

"Sam, you have to know that I love you. I do. I just want us to be happy, the both of us, and I just want to savour our relationship, slowly."

As I said those three words, I love you, I couldn't help but know that I was being untruthful. I didn't love Sam. I thought I did when we were first dating, but now that I could see his true colours, his aggressive and sneaky side, I knew that I was wrong. Sam still hadn't explained why he continued to sneak around school.

"Look, we will discuss this tomorrow. Let's just concentrate on sectionals right now." Sam gave my hand a quick squeeze before putting his earbuds back in and closing his eyes as he leant against the window.

Two Hours until showtime

Kurt grabbed my arm as we stepped off of the bus and entered Carmel.

"It's even more beautiful than The Daily Show Choir website described it." he exclaimed in amazement. I had to admit, Carmel was a beautiful school, notorious for their winning Glee Club and hosting various show choir events. The New Directions headed to the auditorium, where we were escorted to our private room to get ready in, fit with restrooms and change rooms. 12 mirrors lined with lights filled the most of the room. Mr Shue and Miss Pillsbury placed the bags of our belongings on the floor, and we all scrambled to find our costumes. Mercedes dragged Tina and I into the change rooms and we shortly emerged in our blue costumes- a blue button down shirt, blue jeans and a black tie. By the time that we had all finished changing, Quinn was nowhere in sight

One hour and 30 minutes until showtime

"Girl, you look beautiful." Mercedes smiled as she finished applying blush to my cheeks. I smiled back and thanked her for doing my makeup. She moved on to Tina, who was sitting next to me, and began to curl her eyelashes. I looked up in the lit mirror and smiled as I saw Finn approach me in the reflection.

"You ready?" He asked me, placing one hand on the back of my chair while the other rested by his side.

"I think so. Are you nervous?" I replied.

"Well, with you by my side I won't be." Finn winked. At that moment, Brittany and Santana pushed themselves between my chair and Finn, and stared at us with an evil grin for a long time before Santana said, "I've been watching you two like hawks, but it seems as if I should have been watching Quinn more carefully. No one can find her. "

One hour until showtime

Quinn was still missing. I had just begun brushing my hair when Mr Shue called out for Sam and no one replied. Since the bus ride, I hadn't even thought of Sam. I was so mad with him that I had pushed him out of my mind and planned on keeping it that way until we had out discussion the next day.

"Sam!" Mr Shue called again, holding a piece of sheet music. It seemed as if he had made a last minute amendment to the group number. "Rachel, have you seen Sam?" Mr Shue asked as I picked up a bobby pin.

"No, sorry. What's the issue?"

"I need to ask him if he is okay with switching his solo in the group number with Puck's I think it would sound better that way. Anyways, let him know that I'm looking for him if he shows up, okay?"

I nodded and Mr Shue, in his bowtie and suit, headed back towards Miss Pillsbury, rubbing his forehead.

30 minutes until showtime

With half an hour until sectionals was set to begin, Quinn and Sam were still nowhere in sight. I honestly didn't know what to think, and I was trying to think positively. They are probably just getting a bite to eat, I thought, or maybe went to talk with some of the Vocal Adrenaline members. What was more concerning was that the New Directions were the first glee club to perform.

"Okay everyone," Miss Pillsbury had gathered everyone at the outside of the dressing rooms, "We haven't seen Sam or Quinn for over an hour and a half now, so this is getting pretty serious. We need to form a search party. Tina and Mercedes, you need to look around the auditorium. Kurt and Blaine, you need to go to the cafeteria, Brittany and Artie, head to the other restrooms and Finn and Rachel, look around the classrooms. Everyone else stay here and keep trying to call them.

Finn nodded at me and we headed towards the hallway. The hall was lined with shiny silver lockers, much more modern and sophisticated than the ones at McKinley. Finn walked beside me, and somehow his presence was simply comforting. I couldn't help but think that it was not a coincidence that Sam and Quinn were both missing. It just didn't make sense any other way. Finn gave me a reassuring look that said Don't Worry.

We checked every classroom down the long hallway  and there were still no signs of Sam or Quinn. As we turned the corner which lead to another hallway, there was a soft crashing noise.

"Did you hear that?" Finn asked. I nodded. The noise came from the first classroom around the corner. The blinds were drawn. Finn carefully turned the handle and opened the door. The door creaked slightly and Finn opened his mouth wide, his eyes fixed. I met his gaze and was horrified at the sight.  A piano stool was knocked on its side, and on top of the piano were Sam and Quinn, their clothes scattered across the floor of the Carmel classroom.
