I pulled away from Sam's kiss and laughed, "Sam, I have to go!"
It was Monday, a week after Mr Shue granted me the honour of the solo at sectionals. The New Directions had been rehearsing non-stop and with just three weeks until sectionals, today was no exception.
He just pulled me in again and continued to kiss me, one hand on the small of my back, and the other on my hip.
"Don't go. Just stay a little while longer." He stopped and rested his forehead against mine. We were sitting in the choir room after it had been abandoned post-glee club rehersals.
"I have to help my dads redecorate our den. It's very important to them."
"I'd like to meet them sometime."
"You will, eventually. They are very different to other dads, I think I would need to prepare you before letting you meet them. Anyway, they will never let me see you again if I don't arrive home in time to meet the interior designer with them." I stood up as Sam was still holdng onto my hand. I smiled and broke from his hold and towards the door.
"Wait," Sam began, standing up. He grabbed my hands again and turned me towards him, "I love you, Rachel."
I honestly didn't know what to say. I wanted to say it back, but I couldn't. I wasn't ready. We had been dating for over a month now, but it was too early. I was still flattered, so I smiled at Sam and gave him a quick kiss,
"See you tomorrow, Sam." I said as I left, not daring to look back to see the expression on Sam's face.
The next day at school, as I entered the hallways, Sam was waiting for me at my locker, with flowers.
"For me?" I asked. Sam nodded. "I love roses! Thank you Sam." I wrapped my arms around his strong back, while Sam rested his chin on my head. I put the flowers in my locker and hoped that this didn't mean that I had to tell Sam that I loved him, and thankfully, he didn't bring it up in conversation. He was the same cheerful, smiling Sam, even though I knew that he was hurt by me not sharing the words that he shared with me.
It wasn't long until I made my way to the parking lot to go home for the afternoon, and I needed some relationship advice. I just didn't know who from.
"Kurt!" I exclaimed as I saw him heading towards his car, "Can I ask you something?"
"Me? I don't think we have ever had a proper conversation." Kurt replied throwing the end of his scarf over his shoulder.
"Kurt, I think we have a lot more in common than you think."
"Like what?
"Well, I could begin to name all of my female broadway idols but I don't think I would ever stop. We are the only two members of Glee club that have been slushied, plus, I think we both know that you and I are the most likely members of the New Directions to make it big one day. Anyway, like I said, I need to ask you a question. When did you know that you and Blaine were in love?"
"Well, I would have to say it was when we sang our first duet together. He told me he loved me."
"And you said it back?"
"Of course. Why do you ask?"
"I just need a little guidance in the love department at the moment. Thanks, Kurt."
"Well, Rachel, I believe it would be a nice idea to continue this conversation regarding broadway queens over a coffee some time. Good day, Rachel Berry." Kurt stepped into his car and waved me off.
