Today was the day. I was finally going to perform my solo for Glee club. It had only taken Finn and I a few days to recover from being ill, and now, I was as healthy as I had ever been and ready to show Mr Shue how I would help the New Directions win Sectionals. Since my last conversation with Santana, she had been watching me like a hawk, and I had made sure not to talk to Finn. I didn't want to risk hurting Sam, because I did care about him and honestly, he was an amazing boyfriend.

"Hey, break a leg today." Sam snuck up behind me and wrapped an arm across my shoulders as we made our way to rehearsals. I jumped a little at his sudden touch, before smiling up at him and giving him a quick kiss. Glee club was in the auditorium today so that we could do a proper rehearsal on a stage.

"Thank you. I hope Mr Shue likes it. I have a feeling that he would easily give the solo to Blaine or Kurt if I mess it up, so I am really hoping that I perform it as perfectly as I have practised it."

"You will be awesome. Plus, you know that you're the apple of Mr Shue's eye, he gave you the solo for a reason."

Yeah, I thought, because Finn convinced him to give it to me.

We arrived at the auditorium a few minutes early, which allowed me to brief the band and go backstage to practise some vocal exercises. Sam, Mike, Kurt and Artie were already sitting in the audience. I peaked outside the curtains and saw Kurt smiling and give me a thumbs up. We had been talking over the past week and even had a coffee together at the Lima Bean. He was quickly becoming a good friend of mine.

Just as I was about to give myself a motivational talk in the mirror backstage, I heard someone clearing their throat. I looked in the mirror and saw Quinn standing in the reflection, arms crossed.

"Quinn, hi." I began, "I haven't spoken to you since the first week of school, so this is a surprise, but-"

"Can it, Berry. I need you to know that Santana told me about you and Finn." Quinn stated blankly. There was no point denying it, everyone knew that Santana spoke the truth.

"What? Santana said she wouldn't tell anyone." I replied, shocked.

"Wrong. Santana promised not to tell Sam, but she told me and Brit. I'm not here to convince you to tell Sam, because we all know that it would hurt him. I'm here to let you know that tonight, Finn and I are going on a date and I would like for you to not be associated with Finn. Ever."

"Quinn, Santana already made me promise this and I agreed, okay? I have stayed out of Finn's way all week." I couldn't believe that Finn was going to take Quinn on a date. Out of all people.

"Not true. I saw you and Finn speaking yesterday before school. I don't ever want to see that happen again, hobbit, got it?"

Of course. I had forgotten that Finn approached me the morning beforehand. "Yesterday Finn asked me for our Spanish homework. Don't you worry, you will not be seeing me again. You know, I don't understand what Finn sees in you. Maybe the reason that Puck broke up with you is because he realised what a bitch you are."

"Look- I am pretty, popular and have a much nicer nose than you do, so why don't you shut up, stay away from my future boyfriend and go out there and perform your pathetic little solo."

I could not believe how aggressive Quinn was being. She looked just about ready to slap me. Before she could, I turned away and watched her over my shoulder as she stormed off. While she could still hear me, I called out,

"It won't take long for Finn to see right through your nice-girl act and see who you really are."
