Life's to short to be afraid of love. Heartbreaks are a part of being human. My father had his heartbroken by my mother at the age of 54 then found the love of his life two years later.
You can't completely give up on love because your hearts been broken before because that closes up your heart to someone who could make you happier than the person who broke your heart.
Nothing in life is certain, and most everything is temporary so make the best of everything while you have it, otherwise you're going to lose what you love quicker than it even showed up.
