Low Light and First Kisses

We laid in a disarray on Gerard's bed, legs tangled and arms wrapped around each other. The fading light outside the little near the ceiling made everything a bluish tone, and I gazed over Gerard's soft features. He wasn't sleeping, but his eyes were closed. We had a comfortable silence. No music, just the clatter of dinner being made upstairs and the chatter of Gerard's parents friends.

I kept looking over Gerard's face, the blue - almost gray - tones making his skin look soft. His cheeks always were, though. His cute pixie nose looked sharper with the shadow. His dark, long eyelashes cast a shadow, the darkness around his eyes accentuated. His black hair shone, falling around his face gorgeously. He looked so at peace, lips relaxed rather than pulled tight in concentration when he drew or was frustrated.

I wanted to kiss him, just on a whim.

But we are so young, and I don't know what I'm doing when I close my eyes and push my dry lips to Gerard's soft, rosy ones. It doesn't last long, just a quick experimental peck to see if the fourteen year old protested. He didn't, and when I opened my eyes, Gee was smiling softly, his eyes half open and glittering. I shuffled in close, our heads on one pillow, noses so close we had to tilt their heads to fit around each other.

We pulled one another so close, feeling the rise and fall of our chests together, syncing up my breathing with his. I hoped Gerard couldn't feel my fluttering heart beat, but I could feel Gerard's, which was equally racing. So I bet it was a moot hope.

Gerard was the one who hesitantly initiated the next soft kiss. I had my eyes closed and felt Gee shift, then felt vaguely moist lips graze mine. Again, it was quick and barely there. But it was, and that's what mattered.

"...I love you, Frankie." Gerard murmured when he pulled away.

I opened my eyes, seeing the pink on his face, knowing my face was equally as bad, "I love you too, Gee."

We pecked shy kisses until we drifted off, napping until Donald came down maybe half an hour later, and really felt bad about waking us up for dinner, seeing us comfortable and so wrapped up in our little bubble.
