"So let me get this straight. It's a magical map, you have it, and it can take me anywhere."
"The Map is no laughing matter, Lissy." Cara says in a stern voice, suddenly sounding more like an authority figure than a girl my age.
"I'll believe it when pigs fly."
"That's the thing- it's all in your belief. The Map doesn't work if you don't believe in it's power and what it is capable of. "
"Uh huh. So if I believe in your magic map it will teleport me to, say, Africa or something? Are you insane?"
"Not just Africa. The Map's power comes from stories. If you've read it or seen it, The Map can make it real. But only if you believe."
"So that's how you slapped Jake so hard? You used a map?"
"I believed. I read a book many years ago about a tribe of people who had the power to send their enemies flying with a single touch. I believed in the story, and by my belief in their power, I took on their power myself."
"Okay, that's kind of cool. But... I mean, I'm not going to do anything, but how do you know you can trust me?"
"Because I know. I'm not from here, obviously. But really not from here. I'm from Narnia. And I'm here because there are a lot of people who need your help."End of Chapter One.
