I stand just outside the door. Rain poors down heavily in front of me. Lighting strikes in the distance, pounding thunder ensues.
I step into the downpour. The cold water chills me to the bone. I lower my head and think letting  the drops wash over me.

What are you doing?
What I have to.

I look up to the black sky. Electricity flashes through the clouds. I lower my head to normal and brace to run.
That's when they arrive. Four pitch black, armored vans. Soldiers pour out of the vehicles. Four dozen armed soldiers.

Great. Just peachy.

"Hello boys, good to see you again." I joke, despite my fury.

"On the ground!" They shout in unison.

"Already? You already want me onthe ground? Do we need to have a talk?" I continue.

I shove my hands into my pockets and act as casual as possible. I stair down my adversaries. They wear pitch black uniforms and grey helmet that covers their faces.

"Hands up!" They all shout

"Do you want me to put my hands up or get on the ground?" I try

The look at each other and nod.

Was sarcasm my best bet?

They raise their guns and aim them at my head.

"Ah Jeez." I say as I raise my hands and snap on my lights.

The bright blue lights burn in my palms. Energy sparking at my fingertips.

"Fire!" Only one shouts this time.

Deafening pops echo like thunder off of the houses. None of the bullets reach me.

The guards look around confused. So do I. No one is around. Nothing is here.

Then, as if by it's own accord, lighting strikes down on the guards. Electricity jumps from each to another. Bringing this fight to a "shocking" end.

"Hey Kid!" Someone calls from behind me.

I turn but see nothing.

"Look up." The person says again.

I aim my eyes at the top of my house. There stands the guy who took out the guards. Electricity crackling between his fingers.

"Come on." He orders as he turns and runs off the roof.

"Wait, where to!" I shout

Good talk

I run in the same direction following the small flashes above the houses.

_/(°)\_

Eventually the flashes stop. The person I've been following is standing in the middle of an abandoned street. The concrete is wet from the rain that continues to pour from the clouds above.

His palms spark and crackle with electricity. He stand completely still, not making a single sound.

"Uh, excuse me. Hello?" I call to him.

"Get down..." He orders as he ducks behind a dumpster.

I dont question it. I take cover in an alleyway, away from the street. I watch he empty pavement in anticipation, waiting for the Guards to show up.
But they don't. No one waljs onto the street. No vans appear.

"Hey, I don't think anyone is coming." I tell the guy

"Sshh" He hisses at me.

Just then, vans poor into the street. Six vans in total. If these are the same as the last convoy's, each one holds close to a dozen Guards.

"Assault vans." The guy says.

"What gave it away? The armor plating?" I joke sarcastically

He stays silent as he points to the rear-end of the van's roof where a five foot cannon glows blue against the night.

"Oh, try that's what gave it away, the giant-freaking-death-cannon. Great." I whisper into the air.

He places his hand on my shoulder and gently guides me backwards through the alley. As we turn to run, a large man in a black mask and armored combat fatigues cuts us off.

"Where ya' goin' 'boawys'?" He questions in a southern accent.

"Depends," I start, "which direction leads us as far away from you as possible?"

He grunts and shoulders his rifle. We try to run past but he trips us both to ground in one sweep of his leg. Then he grabs the collars of our shirts and yanks us up from the ground.

We're led over the vans and stuffed in the back seats between two more armed Guards.

"Where to now, Boss?" The Guard driving the van says.

"The compound, Director Graham wants to meet these two personally." The man who threw us in the van says.

With that, we're off to The Compound.
