- Chapter 2 -
Claire sat unaccompanied for the rest of the pleasantly awkward train ride. After the 'Marauders' left she charmed the cosy carriage to make sure the door was completely locked and all of the blinds were pulled down, then locked in place with a simple spell. Carefully, she pulled her tattered bag down and unzipped it , cringing at last year's uniform size. Ever since her mother and father died, Claire couldn't bare going anywhere outside of her house , not even Diagon alley to get new robes. She changed into Gryffindor robes and then bewitched her uniform , which makes the uniform bigger so she can actually fit into it. Then she took the comfortable, yet dirty clothes and threw them in the old suitcase before pushing it back up in its previous placement. Claire took a seat back in her original place and with a flick of her wand everything was back to normal. Well, in the cabin that is. She spaced out for most of the time, a blank look covered her face as her small, pouty lips parted open slightly and her eyes gaze out the window as she thinks. It was almost as if only her body was there in that compartment but her soul was somewhere else. Somewhere she felt like she belonged. Her parents gave her a reason for wanting to live, to make them proud. She wanted to be magnificent and she wanted them to feel a deep pleasure or satisfaction for her achievement. An overwhelming sense of immobility came over her as she recalled the last time her parents took her to kings cross station. She became even more frozen when she realised that she was truly alone. She had no friends. No Family. She had no one.
The train lurches to a stop knocking any dreary and dispiriting thoughts out of Claire's head, she lets out a small huff, then she softly lifted her hands and stroked the cosy head of the owl as its bright eyes seemed to twinkle like diamonds. Aside from the fact that the bird was the only thing she had left from her parents, she had always loved it. She fell in love with it the second their eyes connected, almost like it was destiny. Claire's favourite subject was astrology which was why she had to name her based off of something to do with space. Incidentally, the bird was black all over but at the base of her neck, on the right side, was a white crescent shape. So that is where the origin of the bird's name came from. Comparatively, Crescents eyes are like twinkling stars, and the black is like space so instead she could have been called Star. However, her father preferred the name Crescent so Claire went with it.
Moment's later, Claire made her way outside. The crisp autumn air hit her face first, nipping at her nose. Claire began yanking her things with her and came face to face with a thestral. She ever so gently lifted her hand up delicately and stroked its nose staring into its beautiful eyes, which looked like an endless abyss of darkness and pain. It lets out a small snort and She can't help but let the corner of her lip tug up into a small smile. "Oi, Look at her the loopy cow!" The recognisable voice of James Potter , the arrogant arse, calls from behind Claire. Remus, unfortunately, could see it too. The Creature ,that is . The thestral. He knows she's hiding something and he intends to find out what. The way her eyes twinkled with small sparks of sadness intrigued Remus, he wanted to be there to comfort her. His wolf had made it clear to him that on his 17th birthday he would find his mate. Soulmate - despite how cheesy it sounded , Remus was genuinely looking forward to finding his true love. He couldn't help but wonder if she could be related to Claire in some way. While Remus was standing there thinking, Claire had already jerked all her things into a carriage and sat down awkwardly staring out of the window.
Much to her displeasure, it just so happened that this carriage was the last one to go so when Sirius and all the other buffoons jumped on she hushed herself and didn't talk once. Remus sent Claire an awkward half smile and she just replied with a small nod, they were civilised. Remus couldn't help but glance at her every two minutes, sometimes catching her looking at him or vice versa. Meanwhile, peter had been begging Sirius to explain to him in detail the whole of his six week holiday but James wasn't listening, he was watching the two look at each other. 'Godric! He likes her doesn't he?!' For the whole time he had been bullying her he sensed Remus distaste towards it and he couldn't help but feel sorry for his friend. However, he had a reputation to uphold. James looked up at Sirius and nodded, then glanced down at peter and rolled his eyes. James held up three fingers signing 'three seconds.' Then two and then one.
They took a leap on top of the girl and began to punch her in multiple places, repeating the sane process over and over again until her eyes gave out, and all she could see was black. Remus' mouth hung open as he saw small patches of blood on the seat, what have they done. He clenched his jaw and looked away. He can't do anything about it, if he tried everyone would start rumours about him and the one thing he wants to do is be invisible and that's what he's good at. He saw James sending an awkward glance towards him but he just ignored it. How could he stop them? Confronting them doesn't work- he's tried it before. They arrived at Hogwarts no later than fifteen seconds later, Remus grabbed all of his bags and pushed the door open. Rushing towards the castle as he caught sight of a certain redhead, he knew he could get Lily to help. While Remus dumped his bags and rushed over to Lily, James , Sirius and Peter came up with new pranks as they hauled their bags along. They dropped them off where everyone else's happened to be and walked to the main hall, where they met up with Remus.
Claire began to gain consciousness as, what felt like hours later, she heard a male panicked voice "Lily, Lily come quickly!" He called out as footsteps began to draw near, "What is it sev- OH! Oh, Godric, quick go get Dumbledore" Lily Evans' voice exclaimed shakily. If only Claire could see the state of herself. Her brunette hair was a messy main , ruffled up , knotted and coarse. Her nose had a waterfall of blood running into her open mouth, she was shivering, her left eye was black and blue. Bruises covered her arms like sleeves , while they were painted over her stomach and sides. Tears were pouring out of her eyes and she looked like she would rather be dead. Lily cringed as she saw her eyes close but there was nothing she could do until Dumbledore got here and even then she couldn't stop the savages that were 'The Marauders.'
