-Chapter 9-
'It's heavy' was the only way she could define it. She had to carry it around even though she never wanted to. It was always over her, casting its shadow on her life. It was hung by a thin thread, too fragile to hold something so heavy. Most of the time she didn't know what caused the thread to finally break releasing the weight on her. It fell too fast, and before she could run she'd be pinned down. It crushed her ribs, made it hard for her to breathe. She tried to scream; a cry for help was of no use. No one else could see it - the weight that had been slowly crushing her to death. Claire lay upon the hospital bed, staring at the ceiling. The sadness flowed through her veins and deadened her mind. It was a poison to her spirit, dulling her killing off her other emotions until it was the only one that remained. It was as if a black mist had settled upon her and refused to shift, and no matter how bright the day was she would feel no sun and hear no bird song. For the world was lost to her and she knew of nothing that would bring it back into focus. "I'm Here to see Claire, Miss Pomfrey." Came a sweet voice from the main oak doors.
Claire knew who it was, Lily. Lily came to visit her. Claire awkwardly sat up in her bed as Pomfrey allowed Lily access into the hospital ward. Lily rushed towards the hospital bed , guilt in her eyes as she began to well up. "I-I'm so sorry this happened. If I wasn't with Sev, I would have been able to st-" Lily stopped rambling as she took a deep breath. She was panicking. "Shush Lily, its alright. I'm okay. It isn't your fault, please don't cry." Claire awkwardly tapped Lily's back sympathetically, she wasn't good in emotional situations. Especially when other people are crying. "Let's go to Dinner?" Claire suggested as she heard the faint sound of a rumble from Lily's stomach. A rosy colour coated her cheeks as she helps Claire up out of the bed. Claire didn't want to eat, she was far from hungry. Yet, she still said goodbye and thank you to Madam Pomfrey and stumbled out to the corridor, which was surprisingly empty. Claire wasn't ready to be hurt yet. "Actually, I'm going to skip out on food, Madam Pomfrey fed me before you came " Claire explained, feeling bad for lying. Lily nodded sympathetically, yet her eyes told Claire call she needed to know.
