"About 200 years ago we had the first and only male heir. His name was Drake. Dragon clan only produces one child and the royal bloodline always has a female until Drake was born. Drake took the throne with his wife Lilith from the fox clan. She soon became pregnant and out came twin girls. The first born twin, like me, was a chimera. She could shift into a fox and dragon, the show tale sign was her eyes. Her sister on the other hand was pure dragon, so in turn she became the heir. So we haven't had any other twins except for us. I have the abilaty to shift in to all forms. It is the most wonderful thing. My clan thinks if the chimera takes the throne we will lose the pureness of the line." I looked at him, watching his face as I told him the Dragon clan's darkest secret, silently waiting for his reaction.
"So they pretend they don't have another daughter just to keep the bloodline pure? That is not fair on you." I could see him get angry.
I smiled at him. "Thank you, but I have a lot more freedom and privacy than my sister and it is not like they disowned me." My smile disappeared. "There is one thing I wish I could change. I cannot marry or have a child." He looks at me searching my face. Then he takes me within his arms, holding me tight. Before I realized it, my face was wet. 'Is he crying' I thought to my self.
"It will be ok." He gently rubs my back. Then it hits me, the wetness is from me, I am crying. With my head on his chest I can hear his heart beat. So soothing and it helps me calm down. Slowly my tears fade.
"Thank you, I am better now." Clearing my throat and giving him my fake smile I try to pull away.
"Don't." Tighting his arms around me, I sigh softly and let him. Breathing in his sent and memorizing this feeling, I knew it could not last. Finally, I pulled away and stood.
"I think it's time for you to...." I didn't get to finish as Ryder landed on the balcony and walked in. He looked around then his eyes stopped on me, widening in shock. He whispered my sister's name then mine, barely making a sound. Caught, I did not know what to do.
"It's ok, Ryder is trustworthy, we have been friends since we were children." Lucas smiled at us. "Yes, Ryder, this is Princess Kyliegh and she is a chimera."I sighed.
"I'm sorry that I have to deceive you and your clan but that is the law of my clan. Lucas, I think it's time for you to leave, so no one will find you here." I stood up and walked towards the balcony.
Lucas walks over and kisses my hand. "My Lady, I will see you again." He smiled then he and Ryder left. My smile faded as my room became lonely again. Laying down on my bed I cried myself to sleep.
I received a note from Ryder and Lucas they planned a secret meeting place for us, I flew there in my falcon form. The place was in the thickest part of the woods, where no one could see if they flew over. I landed on the edge of the woods and shifted to my wolf form as I made my way over towards the meet up spot.
"Kyliegh, don't you look beautiful" Lucas commented as him and Ryder stolled towards me. I rolled my eyes and contiued up the path towards the small river. I shifted to my human form then we each took a spot and I looked to lucas.
"Kyliegh, can you tell us more?" Ryder asked.
"What do you want to know?" I turned to look at him.
"Why won't they allow you to be known about? I mean why keep it secret in the first place, I mean you have wonderful abilities?" His eyes flashed in anger when he spoke, my eyes slightly watered.
"Never had I had someone care to asked those questions, not even my sister. But then again we were raise like this. They won't allow me to marry and have kids because they do not want their line unpure. The Dragon clan are a very proud race and they won't allow anyone to know any secrets that seem to make them weak." Ryder wrapped his arms around me and held me close, Lucas joined by hugging us both. And we stayed their while I cried. Having them hold me this close I didn't want them to let go, the feel of their warmth and knowing that they truly care for someone like me, makes me feel a calmness that I have only felt while in my animal forms. Wrapped in their arms, I felt safe. I felt what it would be like if I what my sister has. I fall fast asleep.
